Yes. Anywhere after the BMS. I actually drilled a hole in the metal plate (AFTER the BMS) for my constant power for my BrakeBuddy, but any chassis ground will do. de WA7QOKGood point. There is a ground bolt inside the battery box where the main negative cable comes off of before going to the battery. Are you saying I could ground there vs direct on the negative and that would be better or do I need to go downstream to ground further? Thanks!
Nice. Thanks I will check that out.The Yaesu FTM500 I got had the MARS mod done on the inside of the radio, so I can transmit on MURS as well with it, which is nice. It doesn't do Marine, as far as I know. A good place to get info on the frequencies in your area is Radio Reference—https://www.radioreference.com/. I got mine primarily for Ham bands in the VHF/UHF range. It also picks up Aircraft frequencies.
Absolutely outstanding installation here. Thanks so much for posting this. Please post the updated pics after you rewire the mic. Would like to see. 73.I recently installed a new Yaesu FTM 500 in my Ford Maverick 2023 Hybrid. I didn't want to deal with drilling a hole in the roof, so I used the Bullet Proof Diesel 3rd Brake Light DUAL antenna mount, and it came out nice. I have added the link to the step-by-step YouTube video with all the details of how I wired it, mounted it, and got the antenna installed. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on how to make it even better. I am adding an HF radio next to use the second antenna mount. It is working great so far.

That HAM radio looks like it could almost have fit in the cubby...
Where exactly is the 12 volt battery BMS at? Is it that box on the negative cable or underhood? Thanks.Yes. Anywhere after the BMS. I actually drilled a hole in the metal plate (AFTER the BMS) for my constant power for my BrakeBuddy, but any chassis ground will do. de WA7QOK
The sensor for the bms Is that little black item on the negative terminal on the actual battery. Little shunt. I have a picture from my transit that is easier to see. Right under the orange dot. Small with the black and red wires. On the transit, that lowest nut is after the bms and usable as your connection. No such thing in the Maverick, so I used a screw drilled into that area for my Mavericks b-.Where exactly is the 12 volt battery BMS at? Is it that box on the negative cable or underhood? Thanks.

Check my install on QRZ. WB5OXQ. 2023 Lariat Ecoboost. That HAM radio looks like it could almost have fit in the cubby...
Can you post a link? I did a search on QRZ and couldn't find it.Check my install on QRZ. WB5OXQ. 2023 Lariat Ecoboost.
That is a good question about the display. I do park it outside most of the time. It only gets direct sun on the dash where I park about 3 hours a day, so at least it isn't full-on sun. I will report back if it becomes an issue. Yes, it was nice that it was close to the battery. I didn't expect that!KE4JLA, very nice install. Do you keep you truck in a garage - I wonder about the digital display being on the top of the dash (though that is where mine might go) with the windshield heat. Other than that a clean install, very nice radio location next to your 12v battery.

All links are in the Youtube description if that helps:Do you have a link for the exact model of the bulletpoint mount? I have been looking for something exactly like that. Even thought of trying to get it 3d printed.
