As the title states, I decided to roll the dice with a brand off Amazon that I have never heard of before, but claimed to have built in resistors (don't they all), and were brighter than regular incandescent bulbs. As I have a 2023 Lariat, and there seems to be no manufacturer yet to create an LED tail bulb for the Lariat, I was not overly optimistic. They're Sealight: https://a.co/d/4z8MeCV - the Amazon page *does* say that these bulbs do not fit the Maverick, but they really do. I did have to trim little side pieces, about 1mm worth, on each side of the insert tab, but that took all of 15 seconds and then bulbs fit snugly without needing to force them in.

I had on hand the ODBII Scan Tool and was prepared to download ForScan to disable the bulb warning, but do not think I'll need to. There is a unique, almost double flash, but I don't mind it and they are very bright, even in daytime (and maybe a little too bright at night - still TBD).

A quick side-by-side comparison with 4-way flashers:

First problem. They only work, while driving, if the lights are in ON. Not auto. If in auto, they’ll hyper flash or not flash at all. 🤷‍♂️

Next step - ForScan.

ForScan can stop the hyper-flash warning, but not the auto setting part.

Any chance one is tied to the other - fix the hyper flash and they’ll work in auto?

I have seen anything like this in the forums, so I have no other info to go on here.

Nevermind - these lights are going back and I am going to start all over. Trying the LASFIT T3's, which I know will most likely hyperflash, but there's a huge body of evidence that ForScan will fix that issue. I'm just hoping that I can use them in auto.

Probably should have just gone this route to begin with...

If it's not too late, go with a better brand. If you are going to use Forscan anyway, use a decent LED like Diode Dynamics.

Is LASFIT not a better brand? I see then all over these forums. AT this point, I will go with the best that there is so I don't have to keep doing this, and if that is Diode Dynamics, then so be it.

Yes- you see Lasfit here a lot. They did a lot of advertising and advertised a plug and play bulb system, which didn't end up being the case. A lot of people here are/were new to LEDs and bought into the hype. Some people claim to have no issues and failures, while others have experienced multiple. Customer service leaves something to be desired as well. I did actually try them myself a while back so I do have firsthand experience, including the hassle-free return guarantee being a hassle and costing me 20% of my purchase price.

If you want to go cheap, there are other brands you can try - especially since you are willing to use Forscan. If you want to do it once and be done, I strongly recommend Diode Dynamics. I have a complete set of HP11 bulbs, front, tail, and reverse. They are all 3157 style, and even though the website doesn't show, they all fit the Maverick. Just shave the little nubs on the side as you have already seen. I actually have sidemarkers and mirror vanity lights from them as well. I would have cargo and third brake light, but I swapped an F150 module in there. I'm a big fan. I have emailed back and forth with questions before and after purchasing and always get a good response.

That's good enough for me. I'm big on personal experience, and I appreciate yours. Once I get the taillights working, the high mount stop light and cargo lights are next. Last will be the front turn signals.

I just cancelled the Lasfit order and got the same Diode Dynamics you mentioned above. Here Wednesday. Thanks for your time...

Yeah good choice, LASFIT bulbs look nice, but I had one go out just shy of two years old. Since you cannot replace them (they stopped selling them), I just pulled them out and replaced with the OEM bulbs. OEM bulbs are terrible for the taillights, but at least they work and are cheap.

Hello,

You mentioned the front turn signals. Just wanted to share a good experience with you. I bought the Lasfit switchbacks back in February and put them on my XL and loved that they were white/clear when parking lights were on and then turned amber when you put on the turn signal. They are very bright crisp LED light. When I traded in for my Lariat in August I put the same Lasfit switchbacks in. The don't do the clear/white on the lariat due to the LED DRL's, but they still work as awesome amber turn signals and I have had no issues, no error messages and recommend those. I have also just recently put the turn signal tint cutout on to go with the black appearance package look and they are still very bright with the tint on them. Hope this helps you a little.

I replaced ALL halogen bulbs with Lasfit LEDs. One by one, the tail lights failed. I had one (1) cargo light fail, and replaced with Lasfit LED. As for the tail lights, I went back to the original halogens; no issues. Third brake light and front directionals are holding on just fine.

🤓 They do have some kind of an upgraded T3 bulb, I put them in mine a week or two ago. I posted it in here somewhere. I think it’s a post. “What did you do with your maverick today?” So far they’ve been working out good, It seems like I do still get some hyper flash on the dash though.

I have Diode Dynamics bulbs in mine. FORscan fixed the hyperflash and all is well. Only bulbs I have left to switch to LED are the little front corner markers. Have the bulbs, just need to get them in.

I'm also a fan of Diode Dynamics. But for the turn signals (front or rear) my understanding is that on XL/XLT models, Forscan will eliminate the hyperflashing at the LED but not on the dash indicators. Is that the case with you, or did you do something different?

I had planned on installing resistors "the old fashioned way" if I could find a suitable location. I have done this before on previous vehicles.
