Hey all,

I’ve heard reviews talk about Maverick having a rough suspension / ride quality.

Is this true? I know it isn’t a luxury car, but curious if it is harsh or choppy like an a cheap-o car.
I like the ride of the Maverick. In my review I said it had a stiff ride kinda like my 1966 Corvette. For me that is not a cut. I had a 2001 Sonoma SS and a 2003 Sonoma ZRX that had a similar ride. It's because of a suspension made for driving through curves. I liked it so much better than the ride of my 2001 Silverado or 1996 Sonoma SLS, both of which were soft and kinda mushy. My 2006 F150 King Ranch had a great ride for long trips, but I believe that truck was built to provide a cushy ride.

I'm not sure why the Maverick ride was designed as it is, but I like it. It is not harsh or rough, but you can feel the road which for me is something I want. I was pleased on my first drive.

I test drove a FWD XL 2.0 on city roads including over rail road tracks a couple times, thought it rode well compared to our current rides, a Highlander and a CRV. Actually I’d say the Highlander is more choppy, Mav was like a stiffer CRV I guess. But you’re not going to carry 1500 pounds and ride like a Rolls Royce.

Handling seems good but I didn’t get to take it to 10/10 on a test drive (wouldn’t normally drive like that anyway ).

Forget to mention mine is AWD with IRS. I’m sure it drives different than FWD.

Maybe there is a difference between fwd and awd ride, beam rear axle vs independent.

What reviews are those? First I've heard of it, and I read the forums and watch the YouTubes.

Mine is fwd. The descriptions given about ride are all applicable to the fwd as well.
Rumors that the fwd rides poorly would be a case of typical internet conjecture and speculation. Perhaps becomes internet fact. From the mouth of an actual owner… debunked.

Stiff ride with hardly any body role. I have 17" rims with the 235 falcon wild peak tires.

FX4 here - firm but compliant, sporty feeling. Wife and I have owned about 20 vehicles ranging from my 99 Civic CX, Hyundai Elantra and Honda Element, to Infiniti fx35, g37, q40 and dodge challenger (which was a nice ride!). If I were to compare it, I would easily place it amongst the latter vehicles. In fact, I'd place it around the top, I can't think of a specific one I've liked better, though there have been a couple.

Compared to my 2019 Ranger FX4 - that was a bouncy house on wheels - wife's hand never left the passenger handle. It was a lot of fun for me as the driver, but admittedly a terrible ride generally speaking.

I’ve test driven a Maverick and the ride is much smoother than my Tacoma. More SUV-like than Truck-like.

My biggest disappointment with the Maverick is the ride on rough pavement and back roads. You feel every bump. Traded in a Chev Siverado which had a better ride. Both had off-road packages

Ride/Suspension in the Hybrid is PERFECT for me. Feels great: It is responsive and not loose.

Any FWD owners care to comment about the torque vectoring springs in the rear and the effect on body roll and going over bumps?

https://fordauthority.com/2021/06/2022-ford-maverick-suspension-borrows-tech-from-fiesta-st/
I just drove my FWD Hybrid XLT home from PA to MD, about a 160 mile drive. Roads in PA are pretty bad with a decent 2-3" separation every 20-30 feet on the highways.

On the PA roads you could feel the bumps, I would say it was stiffer than my 2014 RAV4 for comparison. Its not harsh, but you do feel the bumps. Once we hit MD roads everything became a lot smoother and I would say it compared to the Rav4 pretty well. Rav4 uses the same size tires as the Maverick, so I figured it should be a good benchmark for an SUV based truck.

Steering feels pretty tight, less body roll than my Rav4.
