I got confirmation from the dealer that disabling the TCU will void the warranty.

Thanks guys, we can end this string.
This is bad information.
You probably did not ask the question correctly.

A fuse can "blow" without human interaction.

A fuse can be removed by human interaction which has the same net effect.

If the first does not void your warranty (and why would it? It won't) the second does not void the warranty.

The dealer may have interpreted your poorly worded question as in "If I purposefully break my telematics unit, will you fix it under warranty?" To which a logical answer would be no.

Or better yet, replace the "good" fuse with a "blown" fuse and "Voila!", issue covered ;)

Respectfully, if you believe that pulling #11 kills the system, you should watch some videos on the subject.
I was asking a simple question about warranty, not looking for a debate or an opinion on what might cure the problem.
If you are tired of the subject, maybe rather than chime in on your feelings you could just ignore these threads.
Removing the power to the module doesn't remove the ability to send up info?

The module is no longer able to report to a scanner as existing, you can't enable WiFi without it displaying an error, you can't display the modem SIM info.

How could it not be killing the system.
Hopefully you are just as skeptical of these "videos" as you are of responses on here.

Well - his original wording was removing it, he claims fuse wasn't enough.

So - dealer, can I dig into my dashboard and remove the TCU without voiding the warranty?

For those asking if removing fuse 11 is enough, I recall a few years ago a security expert went through the Maverick he owned. He found that to fully disable sending driving and connected phone data you also have to disconnect the LTE/5G (depending on MY) modem to do so, not just the power to the telematics box.

The TCU contains the PID's regarding the modem though, if it's not an active part of it.
My phone just died with Forscan on it - but I'll get the list of TCU PID's which indicate connectivity of the modem, and settings for account that I thought I saw.

Ford removed the modem from all the Maverick builds in 2022 through 2024 so doesn't that mean that by default it's dissabled?

No, they didn't. Due to supply chain issues, Ford omitted the Wi-Fi router that would allow owners to subscribe to in-truck Wi-Fi hotspot service.

Totally different than the Telematics unit that lets the trucks communicate with Ford via a wireless connection to AT&T cell towers.

It is really difficult to understand what you are trying to convey here.
Maybe take a course on sentence structure and punctuation.
I got the sarcasm, but the rest of your word salad gets lost.
Try running your thoughts through an AI generator next time.

Ahhh - you need an understanding of the TCU to know what I'm referencing.
I thought perhaps you did with your desire to remove it.
Bad assumption - Never mind.

Nope, just question marks, periods, commas put where they belong. Proper grammar would go a long way too.
On this most recent post, your first sentence was cogent, but you blew it again on the second one.
It's just bad english, or short-hand typing. Either way, it makes you a sound stupid.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling you stupid, you just need to learn english.

The modem is behind the backseat, telematics is behind the HVAC or dash area.

I do wonder if there are two systems collecting data. The telematics module might just collect driving data, while the infotainment system collects data from your phone. So if someone is concerned about keeping their stuff theirs, the modem is the key.

If Ford wants to steal my 4th Ammendment right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.
They have an ethical obligation to be upfront and honest about it. They should do it with transparency, and lay it out in plain english.
Covertly stashing tracking devices in a car that I paid my own money for is dishonest.
If a truth is buried in vague language within a 6-page disclosure, it is effectively a lie.

Sadly, I cancelled my order today. I was really looking forward to getting this Maverick. But this tracking shit has ruined it. And it's not just Ford that is pulling this shit.
