familiarize them selves with a jump start, to understand where the components are and the techniques required.
I think that should be part of the dealer training. Nobody wants to admit their brand new truck they just sold you might need a jump, but it happens. Being prepared for that solves a lot of problems.

My son bought me one of these NOCO GB40 years ago and it has served me well. Hard to believe that little box will jump a car but it has started my Jeep once and our F450 V10 twice. No problem. We also use it at craft shows to power the Square tablet and credit card machine. For $99 buy one and put it under the rear seat. No more worries.

Not very encouraging. Looks like Ford needs to include a jumper battery and cables for new Mavericks. Reminds me of my high school '54 ford sedan. But you can't push start a Maverick. Very dangerous.

Tim’s assertion of “haven’t seen any Maverick Dead Batteries, with 30 in town “ counts as a qualified data point, at least in my world.
It would really count if the % of Hybrid vs ICE of the 30 was known, but that’d be picking nits…
“Not any” is identical to “zero” in a word problem requiring math…I’m almost certain.

Ordered my White Lariat Lux Hybrid June 8th and delivered Jan 8th. I work from home and only have 3,500 miles. This past weekend I went to pick up my brother for a ball game. Went into his house for a bit, came out and the Maverick was a brick. No power. Tried jumping and no luck. Called Ford who sent a tow. The first tow tried to jump it and was able to determine the 12V was fully charged. Couldn't get the vehicle into neutral with no power. Called a second tow with a dolly. The second tow again tried to jump the 12V, pulled off the leads and put them back on. No luck. Vehicle finally towed after about four hours. This was on Friday evening, service was closed over the weekend. Got a call from the Dealership this morning (Monday) asking what was wrong with the vehicle since everything seemed to be working! Explained the issue and it will be a day or two before the tech gets to it. They are going to check everything. Soooo, although I will have start battery as well, it would not done any good in my case.
There is plenty of information in this thread to give to the dealer, and if the dealer does not wat to do anything, this simple phrase will get them moving, "I don't feel safe driving this truck, now get the factory rep here"

What size would work for this clamp ?
That U-bolt should be standard equipment on all hybrids. Is this 2022? That's the kind of stuff I carried in my 58 ford wagon

I just received a 1/2 which is too big. I'm starting to like the vise grip idea.
ok - thanks for the update. I'll try and measure with my calipers this weekend if I have a chance and report back. Maybe 3/4" would work.

Going the wrong way, 1/4 or 3/8
Please share your findings.

Hello everyone another dead Maverick here. I received my Maverick hybrid xlt at the beginning of January. Only 5000 miles on it so far. Went out to start it the other day and no power whatsoever. So I jumped it and drove it for a hour then turn the key off and back to absolutely no power. Realized the only way I could turn it on was to jump power to it and turn the key on. 12v and hybrid battery were good and charged. Got a check engine light for P068a(Deenergized too early). I don’t have the solder connection at the front I have the good cable with the bolt. I wiggled the main $700 power wire in different locations and still nothing. I’m wondering if I have a bad module preventing power to the ecm. Called 3 ford dealers and all are overwhelmed and can’t look at it for weeks. Would rather it not bake in the sun in the parking lot for weeks

It may be worth checking the voltage across the positive battery cable termination (the one that fails) under the black cover near the fuse box to the negative jump start point.

Good luck!

Yes that cable that is bolted down under. That black cover looks in good shape. If it reads 0 volts what would you suggest
