My driving is almost exclusively with 5 miles of my home...but I am retired. Church and grocery store. I could have gotten by with a golf cart, but I like a cabin to keep me warm, dry or coolIt doesn't. It's MPGe ("equivalent"), which is a way to try to compare EV efficiency with gas vehicles. 2023 Escape PHEV gets 40 mpg combined running on gas, which is about the same as a non-PHEV 2023 Escape Hybrid.

It is rated 101 MPGe, sorry if I confused you by dropping the e, which stands for equivalent. It seems that you do not understand the e-coat process, which before the automakers started using that process, vehicles rusted out quickly, especially around the wheel wells in states like Ohio that used salt on the highways. Ford started using it on 86 on the Taurus which made that car very desireable. It added strength and soundproofing to the vehicle, and also allowed them to used a thinner gauge metal, reducing the vehicle weight. The entire Unibody would leave the weld shop and was entirely dipped in the solution that was electically charged to the metal. Before this process, it was necessary to Ziebart the undercarriage, but still left many other metal body parts subject to early rust. The Maverick is the cheapest vehicle in the Ford lineup... because they eliminated certain components, and did not e-coat some parts and several other cost cutting things were done. You get what you pay for. If you read my post, this was only one factor in my decision. FoMoCo credit not offering a reasonable interest rate under the bank rates weighed in on my decision heavier. A $3750 tax rebate on my PHEV is an added plus to the $500 and $1000 incentives at the dealership, plus my A plan price.... I got more vehicle for the same price when you consider the savings in interest. Buy what you want... I did.Another person that shouldn't be allowed to order a Maverick. In what world does an Escape get 101 mpg - are you delusional? Name any car that does.
Why do you think the rust proofing is any different on an Escape? I've lived in the plains states all my life and never had a car rust.
And you took an order slot or a Maverick from someone else that has been waiting.
For years I made my little Buick Encore act like a pickup with a light 4'x 8' trailer. It tilted and was damn handy. It's still damn handy with my Maverick and its little bed. No way I could get my John Deere mower in my Mav but no problem with the trailer.Try putting even one sheet of plywood in your Escape . . .

I have a sink in my garage with a small hot water heater connected to it, and a hose on the bib and a wand on the hose. I wash my cars in the driveway with it, and in the winter if salt has been used they get a wash off underneath before pulling them in.My 14 year old ram has held up very well in Michigan with nothing done as far as aftermarket rust proofing .I'm hoping to get another 10 years from it.nothing was done to my 23 mav either,will see if it holds up as good as the dodge!
Just out of curiosity what's your source here? I googled for an article on Ford not e-coating and couldn't find one.By not E-coating body parts, it will rust in Northern Ohio.

I think the way your post was presented was destined to start controversy.I think I hit a nerve exercising my right to spend my money to meet my needs. I'm retired... I have 0 desire to haul a sheet of plywood. Since 1973, I have purchased approximately 30 new vehicles, and only 2 were trucks, a 2019 Ranger Lariat and a 2021 F-150 Lariat and used the bed of the F-150 twice to haul something that wouldn't fit in any car or SUV. I'll give you a call if I need to borrow your truck. Thanks for thinking about what I'm not going to miss.
