I wonder about the remote start. I turn off the honking before remote start on my Jeep and would do the same here, if possible.
Shouldn't honk since you only press lock once and then the remote start button twice. Sometimes if it fails to start because it didn't register the second remote start press then mine honks. Other than that the only unintended honking is if I use the remote to close the windows by doing lock-lockhold, but I don't know if it's been confirmed if the Maverick has that. Possibly Lariat only since it requires auto-up/down windows.

Also... does anyone else find this part of the manual confusing? It seems to say the horn sounding on the second lock press means a door/hood is open. Is that what really happens? Or does it always honk on the second press?

I hate this feature with a passion. If my truck ever arrives, and they can't completely disable it for me, and I mean completely - I don't care how many times I press that lock button, it'd better not honk - I won't buy it.

Anytime I go to the store or anywhere where I have to walk past parked cars, I especially look out for Hondas and Fords, because those are the worst. At least Honda appears to have switched to a beep instead of a honk on their most recent models. Why I should have to get honked at and startled just so someone else knows their car is locked or where they parked it is beyond me.
So tell us how you feel about sharing the road with people texting while driving distracted.

For me it honks every time I push the button twice. I hit the button twice often for piece of mind.

Usually its an audibly different honk if a door is open than a confirmation honk. Some cars have three short horn bursts for a door open vs one solid honk for confirmation.

When exiting I always lock my present vehicle (F150) using the driver door panel lock/unlock buttons, double-pushing it (same as from the fob) except when using it no horn honk/lights flash. You can do this on the Maverick (pg. 74 of OM):

Just an FYI having worked for Alan enforcement agency at one time I know that in some places. ( usually high tourist areas or where people from out of town might be frequenting a local) Some rings Of thieves are known to patrol parking lots and actually capturing your fob frequencies as you lock the car as you walk way locking the vehicle. Because of this I have used the buttons on my exterior door handles to lock and using the proximity unlock instead of triggering the remote. Just me being anal……

So when the day comes when I do get my XLT Lux Hybrid I will be using the touch panel probably 90% of the time. I will miss the ability to just grab the door handle while the key is on my person as is with my Jeep Renegade.

‘This was one of the reasons I got the Larait trim. Interesting discussion.

While adding to the noise pollution folks endure while walking thru the car park.

How about just pressing the remote lock just once and listening to the lock activation? A horn blast is to warn folks of a hazard rather than provide for your ‘peace of mind’.

If you wait three seconds before pressing the FOB a second time the horn will not sound.

On my 2024 Lariat Hybrid, the remote start via the fob will only work if the truck has been double locked with the fob. And with double lock you do get the beep.

The double lock is not required when using Ford Pass to remote start. That seems odd to me.

... on the 2nd button lock push it sends the horn sounding. Is there any way to program the fob to not make this honk on the 2nd lock?
I had to find the solution to this in the user manual again today, after two software updates hosed a lot of my preferences.

If you don't like the horn honking when you press the fob lock button twice:

1. Using the steering wheel Menu controls,
2. Select Vehicle Settings | Locks
3. Switch Mislock Chirp on or off.

Locks settings are also where you can make all doors unlock with a single fob unlock press, if desired.

Additionally, the software recall/updates also turned my DRLs back on. They can also be disabled, if desired, in above vehicle settings, under Lighting.

The worst preference that got hosed today was turning the damned seatbelt chime got turned back on during the sw update. Finally got it disabled for the driver. Again, I have reasons I want this damned nuisance OFF.

This truck has more nanny annoyances than a Subaru.

On the bright side, the dealer actually fixed one of my persistent buzzing rattles in the dash, where it meets the driver side A-pillar. Alas, the passenger door rattle remains.

Please, no preaching about why one might want to change these settings. People have reasons why they want things to operate a certain way. And it's nobody else's business.

Agreed. I like the honk because it confirms for me that I did indeed lock the truck properly.

When my wife is driving alone, unlocking only the drivers door is a choice of safety for her.
