"It looks like there's going to be a software update. "Apparently, the update will alert the driver if it detects a rod bearing failure and limit engine load". Ford mentioned that letters will be sent out by May 6th. I'm curious to know what Ford plans to do if I experience a rod bearing failure."

Did you notice any performance issues after the update? I want to get the update so that the recall can be finished.

[on Ford site] recall 23S27 still says "Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available"

Same when I looked at it. BUT... when you click the down arrow at the right to see the full announcement it says:

Remedy
Software is now available to repair 2021-2022 model year corsair, 2020-2022 model year escape and 2022-2023 model year maverick vehicles. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to update the powertrain control module pcm free of charge parts and labor. Parts to support 2023 escape and corsair vehicles should be available by the 3RD quarter of 2024.

It seems to contradict itself, but it probably means they can do a fix now.

The most trouble free Ford I had was my 1980 Fiesta. Loved that little red ride.

My old boss had one of those.
He called it "The Burrito".

(Which literally means little burro, not a food staple.)

He put 500,000 miles on it.
I think he got about 45 MPG too!

Ok got my letter regarding the software update for 23S27.
I'll head over to the dealer tomorrow and schedule yet another drop off to service.

I know many folks are avoiding some of the recall services due to cars going limp. Is there any reason to be concerned about this specific recall? Can’t say I’m totally keeping them straight. I have three that I have yet to do: underhood fire, body control module bcm software update, and instrument panel cluster IPC illumination.

Any of these that I should avoid? ‘22 Hybrid XLT
