Definitely looks like a problem, but I’m curious if the rocking goes away if you put the parking brake on before turning the key off as a way to treat the symptoms while you wait for the underlying problem to be fixed
Hadn’t thought about that when I get home I will check because that’s the one time I can almost guarantee. It’ll always happen. I make two quick left. Turns to get into my driveway. So I will check that out and post back.

OK when I got home, put it in park and then put the E brake on waited about 10 seconds shut the car off pulled the key. I felt it roll back, but it didn’t jerk. So for fun I just took the E brakeo off and the second I did that. It jerked back-and-forth like it has been doing.

when it first started happening, I honestly thought maybe it was an E brake issue but then it got to the point where I can feel it in my feet when it’s going to happen, which makes me think it’s something else.

I called a Ford dealer about 50 miles away this morning. Explained everything they can’t give me in for a week, but he said it sounds more like a powertrain issue and as long as I really went to the other dealer, I should be in the system and they should cover it no matter what. He also said he thinks they can get something figured out. When I told him the dealership I had been taking it to he chuckled like he knows they’re idiots or something.
At least one stealership acknowledges. Good luck, let us know what the problem was. Sounds like a less common Maverick problem.

Strange. Try this.
Pull in - keep foot on brake - e-brake - gear to Park.
Foot off brake - shouldn't be any movement possible from that, unless on incline then front may go up or down as weight shifts to rear brakes.
Truck off key pulled.

OK, did that put the E brake on before I put it in park then put it in park took my foot off of the brake pulled the key. It did not move at all. But same thing as the yesterday when I went to start it back up and go the second I released the E brake it jerked

I dunno. This is sorta sounding normal. If there is any slope at all, you will get movement if the e-brake isn't used. The transmission's parking pawl has a lot of slop in it.

I ALWAYS use the parking brake, and I always have. Pull into spot, foot on brake, then put into park and use e-brake before releasing the foot brake pedal.

When leaving, the e-brake isn't turned off until my foot on on the brake pedal and the truck is in R or D.

The only thing that sounds funny is you mentioned that sometimes your foot is off the brake, in park and then there is movement after turning off the truck. Usually the movement is when you release the foot brake.

I would keep trying various things. Also make sure you don't have the 'auto hold' feature enabled. That might complicate the testing.

I’ve checked that too. I was able to get this video. There is no way this is normal. Besides if it was, it would’ve been doing it the entire time I’ve had the truck and not just started in the last couple months. I took another video today with the step-by-step process, but it’s too large to upload. However, I can feel it and know when it will happen in my feet like a wheel bearing going bad. I can put it in the park and release the break. At this point, I can sit from anywhere from five minutes to 20 minutes and it will not do anything, when I shut the truck off and pull the key is when it does the jerking in the original video I posted.

Update: took the car to the other Ford dealer today drove around with the tech for about 45 minutes till I was able to duplicate the problem. So he saw and felt it he thinks maybe it’s the transfer case. Which never occurred to me but since it’s an AWD that actually would make sense. They have the truck and will update back with what they find.

Possible reason, do you have the auto vehicle hold (brake hold) turned on? - It's the equivalent of keeping your foot on the brake pedal. It would also turn off when turning off the truck, just like when you shift to park and release the brake without it on, and roll until the parking paw engages.

Just a thought guys.

Update:

received a message from the Ford dealer yesterday they have to order a transfer case so who knows how long all that will take. But hopefully that will take care of the problem. Will post back after I receive it back and see what happens.
