Parked, put in park, pushed start/stop button. Turning it off is the only way to get the screen with the distance travelled for the current trip and I always check to see how much of it was electric.

Open the door and get rewarded with an unexpected double honk. The lady in the spot beside me wasn't impressed at all. lol

Are you sure the vehicle was off when you exited? Usually this only happens when the vehicle is either in the on or in the accessories position and the vehicle determines that the fob has lost communication.

The vehicle then double honks to let the passenger exiting the vehicle know that it is still running without the fob present.

In my experience i cannot seen the screen that shows most-recent trip stats until it has been shut off.

Not only did i get that screen but i actually read it and made notes. Before the door opened which clears that screen off thw display.

My '24 Lariat hybrid did that and it drove me nuts. Dealer said there was no way to disable the feature. I have since sold it back to Ford under the buyback for a battery issue. I now have a '25 Lariat hybrid and the double honk feature does not exist.

I got this on my 22 and 25. I could not figure out a pattern as to when it happens. It happens less frequently on the 25 than the 22.

Yeah, I have it happen once in a while on my 23
I think it is related to having a too-slow computer on Sync3 and earlier models.

My 25 XLT does that every now and then along with other crazy things like the instrument display telling me that I needed to stop and get some sleep after only driving 5 miles, I think it's trying to get me to laugh 🤣

I usually get it if I get the order of operations wrong. I created a memory checklist and now I do it every time and have not gotten the double honk in a while.
  1. Stop and keep foot on brake.
  2. Put in Park.
  3. Engage parking brake.
  4. Turn off truck.
  5. Lift foot off brake.
  6. Open door.

The only time I've ever had this happen on my 25 XLT is when I've neglected to shut the truck down before opening the door.

I discovered that my finger would hit the lock button when opening the door and the truck would beep twice.
I don't think my fingers are long enough to do that. lol
