Hey guys, searched the forum and was surprised not to see a thread on this. If I just missed it, please link me.

I use Android Auto, and have the auto-play music disabled. So when I start my truck and connect my phone, no music until I hit play. Perfect.

I don't connect my phone for every drive though, and when I don't connect my phone, after like 30-60 seconds, the radio (sometimes?) turns on by itself to SiriusXM or whatever non-AA input was last selected.

I expect this is the as-intended behavior, but I hate it. Is there a way to disable it? I want peace and quiet as the default.

ETA this is a Lariat Lux w/ SYNC 3 and the B&O sound system.

Yes there is an on/off power button 😉

So I guess what I'm hearing, through all the sarcasm, is that the radio power setting is "sticky" (unlike drive mode selection, for instance) and if you turned off the car with the radio on, it powers up with the radio on.

So I guess my question is, is there a way to "unsticky" the radio power setting? So that it defaults to "off" when you start the truck?

There's hundreds of posts on this forum asking about changing the stickiness of the drive mode setting, so I really don't understand all the hate for asking if I can change the stickiness of the radio. 🤷‍♂️

Audio stays on until you turn it off. Power button below the screen will turn off audio but not the screen, so you can still use it for navigation, etc.

The system, when functioning as intended, will always return to the last used input source. In your case, that means that the truck is still set to Android Auto when you first start it up, even if your phone is not connected. If no signal is received within about a minute, then it will fall back to a radio source. The reason for this delay is to allow time for Android Auto to initialize on the phone and start to send audio data. So, yes, it is functioning as designed.

Fair, thanks for the thoughtful reply. I'm sure it would make a lot of people happy to be able to decide what settings/modes/powereds get remembered or forgotten from start to start.

I'd like to have the seat warmer default to off on every start, instead of remembering my last setting. But I'm sure some people would hate that.

This has been driving me crazy as well. Would love a peace and quiet default on every startup. I'm never going to remember to turn the volume down when I get out of the truck.

Also, why is the radio volume so much louder than any other source?

My solution happened by accident. After Android Auto disconnects, it reverts to the last used source. I had my SiriusXM tuned to an actual station when my subscription expired. Station went silent and now so is my truck when it starts up. 😁

Nobody likes the surprise of loud music immediately when you turn on a car.

This radio-on at startup mode of operation has been bothering me as well.

I've tried different things to test what is going on, and to try to get the audio to be off at start-up.

I disabled the Android Auto automatic music option, and it works when my phone with Android Auto is plugged into my Maverick before startup - it's quiet at startup.

But when AA is not active, and my phone bluetooth is off, the radio comes on at startup every time.

I turned my radio off before turning the truck off. When I started the truck again, the radio came back on - and loudly.

When it comes back on loudly, I immediately hit the off button, but there's a one or two second delay in the radio turning off.

And God forbid you hit the power button a second time, (because you thought the first press didn't work) then it doesn't turn off! D'oh!

The power button isn't like an old-style radio power button. It isn't a power switch. It is a "computer input" button that sends a signal to the infotainment computer to turn off the audio. And the computer has to complete its boot-up before it reacts to the "power off" input button.

Like others have expressed, I prefer the infotainment default setting to be off (quiet) when I start the truck.

Or at least "maintain the user setting at shut-down". In other words, if the radio is off when the truck is turned off, then it should be off when you start the truck back up.

The Maverick Infotainment system is a computer system. The audio on or off at startup should be a user configurable setting.

Hopefully, someone knows how to set the audio to be "off at start-up" or to at least "maintain the user setting at shut-down".

Thanks 😁

Every car/truck I have owned over the last 52 years leaves the radio/sound system exactly the way it was when I turned off the vehicle. This is how it has always been, and IMHO the way it should always be. It would be a pain in the ass to have to turn it on every time I get in the car.

Brian, I'm not sure if this is your issue, but it's something to look at when your radio is forgetting your previous settings. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...nging-to-am-or-sirius-ch-0.46051/#post-813599

My radio comes on with the last setting I had when I shut it off. If the volume was at zero, it comes on at zero. If I had AA on and was using Waze, it starts up with Waze.

What's happening to you does not sound right and certainly would be upsetting.

Good luck. (y)
