In the second test's 32.1 miles waiting for it to run out of gas:
Eco mode
A/C on Auto 78
Mixed driving- some stop and go and some 60mph highway
No hills
I drove with traffic. No fast starts or attempting to hypermile.
It sat overnight one night.
This has been driving me crazy as well. Would love a peace and quiet default on every startup. I'm never going to remember to turn the volume down when I get out of the truck.
When I ran out of gas it was at about 45mph. I kept the speed steady at 40mph with as little input as possible for a while, then gradually slowed. Very little pedal movement overall.
Thank you Colin. I enjoy learning about the way some people view others almost as much as learning about the Ford hybrid power train. I wasn't expecting to learn so much when I shared my experience and data.
I love the Maverick. If there's anything you'd like to know about our trucks please let...
That's great info Bulldog thank you. Excellent mileage.
Our conditions are pretty similar except my drives tend to be shorter. I usually drive 10 over and accelerate very slowly. I'm excited to see how far mine will drive electric only when this tank empties. I'm going to do some...
That's awesome electric only range! I'm going to do another run from hopefully a higher state of charge.
My fill ups are all to the initial burp as well but I'll have to do it again since my tracking of the fuel added was flawed.
Could I ask your approximate speed, outside temperature, grade...
Those are valid concerns Guv. Good info. Thank you. I have a lot of respect for people who take great care of their vehicles.
Longevity isn't a priority for me personally.
1.75 miles, beginning with 47.6% hybrid battery state of charge. Presumably, had it been charged more it would have driven further. I haven't tested that yet.
Thank you. I was wrong. Corrected original post. FYI- it appears the tank is larger than the 15.5 I estimated, but I'll step out of that discussion since my data is flawed. See wax87's post above.
Correction! I just pulled up my pictures and remembered I'd added about 2 gallons previously. I'm going to edit the fuel info out of the original post if I can. Thank you for catching this.
I ran out of gas a couple days ago while tracking in Forscan and learned a few things:
-It drove electric only at about 38.4mph for 1.75 miles (Hybrid battery started at 47.6%, which isn't very high)
-Hybrid battery drained from 47.6% to 26.8% during that 1.75 miles. At 26.8% it cut power to...
Mine sits without the engine running until the hybrid battery state of charge drops to 30%. Then it starts the engine to charge the battery.
It charges with the engine running until the battery reaches 40.65%, which takes exactly two minutes when I'm running the A/C.
