I had a follow up call with Ford Engineering today. They said another radio update is due out in about a month but will mostly be focused on Bluetooth connectivity. Said they continue to work on improvements to AA and CarPlay. They also said it will be a smaller update than 1.8 and should download faster for anyone who had lengthy download times for 1.8 (which was a fairly large file according to them).
Any word on the software update to fix the Ford Pass remote start issue, that causes the catalytic converter to overheat? Last I heard a software update would be coming soon. But that was weeks ago.

GPS? What do you mean?
The Maverick doesn't have GPS navigation.
When my phone is hooked up and goes through the Ford display, Waze is so glitchy or locks up the screen.

But when I have my phone unplugged there is not an issue.

So I might just keep my phone unplugged and use it for GPS screen and forget listening to Spotify or Audacy through the Mav.

I just finished my update and everything went fine. It took around 1 hour 40 minutes(on WiFi) to download and maybe 4-6 minutes to install. I did notice that the the software version didn't change. I shut the truck off, locked it up and went in the house. About 10 minutes later I went back out and started the truck up and a message came on telling me the update was successful. The software version change to 1.8.0.1_PRODUCT_GD

I tried two old iPods from 2006 and 2008 and did not have any luck in getting them recognized. So, I copied the songs onto a USB drive which works great for me. The Ford ACM displays the USB drive as a source and allows me to browse by artist, album, or song. It works great.

Hmm. I've taken two trips now, over an hour each way. No issues using Waze the whole way. Not sure if it's because it's a Lariat Lux with Sync 3.

Hey, thanks!
We called over to Ford Service today and have an appointment for mid-May to have the software update installed. *BUT* Apparently they don't give you the software update UNLESS your truck has already shown the issue happening. I explained that, knowing it COULD be a problem, we have never remote started the truck, so it couldn't overheat. They say they will have to test our truck to see if it will overheat before they can install the software update.

So, that raises several questions:

(1.) Does the Maverick use the same software to start the engine by key and by remote start? Or is it different software? If different, one fix is to never remote start it. We'd be good with that. Not sure how I feel about the service dept. trying to make my truck overheat!

(2.) Has the catalytic converter overheated via key start too? If so, under what conditions?

(3.) How confident is Ford in this software update? Several members of our family are software engineers and their very first words were to the effect that if they don't want to use it in ALL Mavericks then there are likely still bugs in the new software update that they don't want to proliferate where they can avoid it. Hmmm.

I had my first oil change done today at 5k miles and had the Radio update on the list to be done. The service advisor told me due to to XL/XLT Mavericks having the "Sync Light" they are not equipped with the APIM module that allows them to direct connect to the screen console in the Cab. So all updates have to be basically done over the air, they connected my Mav to the in-house wifi and could not find any updates, therefore they couldn't do anything.

Lariat's they can technically do updates through the APIM module since that trim has the module on the back of the screen.

Ohhhh, great! Nice going, Ford. Do our on-MTC Ford people have ideas for us?

Could duct tape a giant IPad to the screen and run audio and stuff from that?

How about a 32” TV taped to the outside of the windshield 👀
