Hey, I am trying to find a pair of aftermarket smoked, led, taillights for my 2025 Maverick XLT. I checked the forum but couldn't find a definitive answer. Anyway, I pulled out one of the taillights and the connector only has 4 pins populated. I checked on eBay and most if not all taillights have 5 pins populated, however, I found on Amazon a set that comes with an adapter harness that has only 4 pins. Would this be plug and play on my XLT? I added a picture of the plug on my taillight and two pictures of the Amazon listing.

Thanks.

Yes, they should work with the adapter.

It is very easy to adapt the LED signature lights to base trucks:
  • Pin 2 is the halogen parking light +
  • Pin 5 is the LED parking light +
  • Cut and splice the wire from Pin 5 into Pin 2, such that Pin 2 powers both functions
That's all the adapter does. You can achieve the same thing with a 25-cent IDC Tap.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch. I was very close to do the ZEP thing on mine but this approach is better. Thanks for confirming!

I just ZEP'd mine. Let us know if these replacements lead to hyperflashing

I don't anticipate having the hyperflashing issue. I am keeping all other lights the same and from the pinout that the other commenter posted I am just tapping the additional LED circuit to an existing one. The problem I believe happens is when all lights are changed to LEDs and those LEDs have less resistance than the incandescent bulbs. I have seen that changing the relay or adding resistors fix the issue. But I have no experience with this so I'll keep you posted .

They're likely all the same and resold under different made-up brand names.
This one has the turn signals around the side that light up . The OP has the taillights that flash

Hey, I recently bought some off of Amazon with the adapter pig tail, and they did light up and work fine.
Big BUT, they did not fit my ‘22 XLT bed. They stuck out a bit and had an ugly gap. It seems like the ones I bought were only for maverick models that had led drls in their taillights to begin with.

This is a problem with OEM tail lights as well. If you over tighten the screws the front pokes out. Try taking them out, reseat them and hand tight on the screws.

Did you return them? Maybe try what another user said about hand tightening the screws. I have also read that the OEM ones can pop out too.

Yup, returned them. I did some research, saw the suggestions about just hand tightening the screws, but it seemed like the stalks that pop into the grommets were just a tad to long, and were already popped in as far as they would go.

edit/correction: it was $145 for the adapter only, no tail lamps included.
I stumbled upon someone else’s post who found a smaller seller who makes or modifies these to actually fit non-led model mavericks, let me see if I can find that.
I also see that in the description of some of these Amazon sellers, they say specifically that they will not fit the non-led model mavericks. The looked really good in person though, so I do want to find a set that fits too.

edit: looks like this was the original post I saw it in, looks like the site is down for maintenance rn, but I was able to view it a few days ago.

I bought a set of them to put in my Lariat and they had a gap identical to that. The part I circled in red wasnt lining up with its hole, I bent down the tab that it goes into a little and they went right in.

Gotcha, appreciate the insight! I did see that little dingus, and I did make sure that it wasn't getting caught anywhere (it went neatly into the factory hole). Even with some pressure, the front keepers did not want to go in any further, though they were in there and holding solid. If I have a second, I may try and see if I can find a set for $300 again, and I'm thinking I may try to shorten/inset the plastic pedestal that the ball/stud sits on to eliminate the gap. Or I'll risk it with these off of amazon lol.
