Because, given it's a vehicle, that idiot driver might end up naturally selecting you as their +1?

It's annoying but I get it, you don't want to be the one manufacturer that looks like it's actively resisting safety features for their drivers (and those around them)
Sorry, but this "for the safety of others" thing had gone way to far. Did we learn nothing from the trillions flushed down the toilet with the Covid BS. We need to hogtie the idiots and quit making everyone suffer. You can't fix stupid.

I suspect the PTS is in the position it is as a cost saving feature. Using that location for more than one thing probably saves somewhere. The thing is, in my side gig doing some valet work I find that there isn't a "typical" spot for a PTS switch. I'm still trying to figure out why some Porsches have a "key" start to the left of the steering wheel. I find that a bit odd.

So, I'm just wondering is it possible to start the truck even with a dead fob? (before anyone asks, NO I HAVE NOT read the manual. lol)

My issue is not being able to put my Mav in neutral without starting the engine. Got a fix for that? Also can't get going without closing the door. I'm sick of all these features that are meant to keep troglodytes from hurting themselves. Why do we keep trying to circumvent natural selection?
I've been able to creep with my door open but I think I already had the car running. Ill have to spend a few minutes with it to make sure.

You would be right with the parking brake on slopes. It does engage automatically. One time at my friends house, I went to park and since his driveway is pretty steep, as soon as I parked it, it sensed the incline and automatically set the parking brake. Another nice safety feature.
Yeah, but I don't know why they didn't make it just apply the parking brake automatically every single time you push the off button with the truck in drive. Even on mostly flat ground, without the brake, you get that slight roll until the transmission catches. I hate that feeling. I can't get it out of my head that it's not good for the transmission

Yes, read the manual (jk kinda). There's a little recess in the center console where you can put a fob with a dead battery and push to start will work as normal

Also it should start warning you when the fob battery is getting low.

In a world where we need this warning label, they do.

Just find out where the level sensor is and bend it or tilt it so that it always thinks it is on a hill.

Haha I like your creative thinking, but I'll just keep doing it the old fashioned way. Spinning that dial is kinda pleasing anyway

Porsche puts ignition on left based on their racing history at LeMans. Drivers would run to their cars so they could start with left hand while keeping right hand free to shift. At least that is what I have been told. Every Porsche sports car I have seen has ignition on left. Not sure about the SUVs.
