So the other day the car infront of me stopped suddenly and I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting them, No alert, So since then Ive tried everything I can think of to make an alert pop up and I get nothing. I Have all the setting enabled in the menu but I get nothing. Can some one who has it working give me some info on when it triggers or some kind of test mode or any general info you think would be helpful is appreciated. Thanks

Maybe it didn’t activate because you were already braking? Mine hasn’t gone off yet either. I hope that’s a good thing!

Does it actually give an alert, or just automatically apply the brakes?

In the menu there's setting for alert sensitivity. So im assuming there's supposed to be an alert.

Mine works but it’s pretty useless. It has only turned on when I was driving in the right lane and a bus was stopped up ahead and I had to floor it to pass someone to the left of me. The assist turned on only once I was 20 feet away from the bus. In the event of a real accident, there’s no way I would have been able to stop in time.

It also turned on once when I was driving through a windy canyon road and someone in front of me pressed on their brakes to make a left turn onto a dirt road. That might be helpful in a real life accident scenario but even with the sensitivity on high, it’s still too late.

The sound it makes is more likely to give you a heart attack than help you avoid an accident.

I don’t see how this meets safety guidelines. I wish Ford would have just left that out and put in a higher resolution backup camera instead.

Not sure how it goes in the Mav (still waiting) but the pre collision on my Civic is crazy. Works sometimes, other times not at all. When it DOES work, I'm already braking, just apparently not as much as car thinks I should be. Then it violently brakes for me. A few times of that happening, I turned it off. Assuming I'll be switching it off on the Ford too.

I have seen it twice so far. But both times the vehicle it was alerting on was either turning right or left and was already just out of my direct collision zone.

Bottomline, I wouldn’t count on it fully avoiding a collision.

Just like an airbag, you hope never to have to find out if it really works. You can’t exactly speed towards a tree to test it. Well, you can. I won’t. Mine’s gone off a few times with the flashing screen thing. Never felt any brakes engage. I would say it is acting just about right, unlike the Ridgeline that would go off for no reason at all.

I am too old to test it into a brick wall. Just have to assume it will work in real life. If it works, that's good. Have you seen the TV ad when they decide on Tacos to eat? Not a Ford, but the same idea. They were real close when the bakes hit.

Someone should go to Home Depot and get a 4 x 8 sheet of foam insulation and tie it between 2 posts, then film it while crashing into the foam sheet. Better than testing with another vehicle or building.

My BMW and our CVR flashes a HUGE warning on the dash.

I was going to say some traffic cones but that would probably work better.

It only alerts when you are driving at slow speed and are in imminent danger of hitting something. Mine's gone off maybe 4 times in 73,000 miles. I don't think it could be turned off by accident, but definitely check your settings.
