Only John Deere designs gears to survive low speeds at high power all day.
I used to work at a 3rd party who made gears and pulleys for John Deere, we also made treadmill frames and drive pulleys, hubs, and other bits. Let me tell ya the gears and pulleys we made for Deere had batches that could have pretty wide tolerances and pass their approval. These were mostly stamped and spun units though. Nothing inside any gear cases. All made for $11-14/hr in Springfield, Ohio.

No problems so far '24 hybrid at only 3700 miles. Kind of expect something before 50k though, only time will tell.

Thought I would try to settle this topic to realistic percentages of actual failure .
Please take the poll , problems or not !
And then post what type of vehicle ,mileage, mods if any, hybrid , ecoboost, tremor to discern our percentage of failure rates between all 3 axle types!
If only a boot failure ( all are cheap plastic style), no clicking or vibration or loss of movement , please post .
And if anyone has a rear failure in awd vehicles please post too.
Thank you
What a SILLY poll!

What a SILLY poll!
Every poll on this forum ends up this way. There are too many variables and not enough room to edit. Most are just poorly thought out. Good intentions, but poorly executed.

Overall though, I think the basic data is pretty straight forward. People are reporting failure on stock setups.

My axles were replaced at ~34k miles but the vibration issue was happening several thousand miles before that and initially incorrectly attributed to the 3/4 worn out tires possibly being out of balance. After a new set of tires the vibration obviously didn't go away and then the axles were diagnosed as the problem.

This was on a 22 Hybrid with stock suspension, driven lightly and with probably 60-70% highway miles. They said the p/s had a tiny bit of grease leak from the clamp at the small side of the boot but no tears. The d/s had no sign of grease leaking at all with the boot being perfect, but still had noticeable play in the CV while yanking on the axle.
