I agree with previous posters recommending extended warranty from Granger Ford or Flood Ford....10 year warranty for around $1200 or less! I got my extended warranty from Granger.

I've had my Hybrid Maverick Lariat for almost 6 months, and just under 5000 miles. Zero issues with the truck - I love it and am SO glad I got it. Remember that the folks who do NOT have problems rarely start new threads about their lack of issues, but everyone who has had a problem replies to the complaint threads with their similar issue and how it was addressed. That's just human nature - and really it's a major draw for this forum - getting help from those who've gone before you.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

I ordered my 2023 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid (BAP AND LX PACKAGE) and it is going to be delivered by the end of the month-early June. I have been debating on if I want to sell my 2017 Lexus Is200t for the Maverick or to keep my current car. My only concern is reliability issues as we all know Lexus is known for being reliable, unlike the Maverick because there hasn't been enough data. If you have a HYBRID Maverick, please let me know if you have experience any issues or concerns with the car because I do not want to deal with car problems (headache)! Also if you have any opinions please let me know :)
I've had my hybrid xlt for 2 months and almost 2,000 miles. Haven't had any issues and am loving it. Averaging a little over 45 mpg combined

I've had 2 Ford C-Max hybrids and now have 550 miles on my 2023 Maverick. The old 2013 C-Max had a steering rack issue, but it spent its first years as a rental in Hawaii. Zero trouble in over 5 years with the 2017 C-Max, and of course no trouble with the Maverick. Ford has plenty of hybrid experience and I love mine. BUT, comparing a Lexus car with a Ford truck is no reasonable comparison. You want one or the other.
We had a 2014 C-Max hybrid which also had the steering rack issue but was replaced under warranty with no other issues for 7 years and 65k miles when we sold it. It was a fun car to drive and got 44 mpg on average.

I intended to sell the 2017 C-Max (Titanium) once the Maverick arrived, but my wife decided that she loves it as much as I do...and it is now set up to flat-tow so now it stays.

Sadly, my 2013 steering was all on me (bought used and went at about 36k and 40 months) at $1890. But I still loved the car enough to want to buy a new one that had a warranty. Nobody was beating the door down at Ford for a hybrid in 2018. I also bought an 8 yr Ford extended warranty but have had nothing needed but oil changes and a new 12v battery in 5.5 years. Hopefully, the Maverick will be the same. $100 a year for a 10 year warranty is easy piece of mind.

Nothing wrong with a 2017 Lexus. Also nothing wrong with a 2023 Hybrid Maverick.

I have had mine since December 2021, and have put about 12,000 miles on it so far. It isn't driven much, as it is our gas guzzler; it only gets us 43 mpg. ;)

Love the truck in XL trim. No problems whatsoever so far.

Always remember forums like this are an exagerrated microcosim of owners with a much heavier dose of people complaining at the drop of a hat. People who are happy say very little.

22K and not one problem.

All it takes is spending a little time on this forum to see that there are plenty of people that have had issues with the mavericks. And some of these issues seem to be problematic for the dealer to figure out and or get the parts to repair.

This doesn't mean you will have a problem with yours though. But its almost a certainty that your more likely to have a problem with a maverick than you would with your lexus.

The biggest question I would ask, is have you sat in a maverick and really checked one out? I didn't when I ordered mine. A month or two ago I saw 3 mavericks at a local dealer so I stopped in to check out one and sit in it since I am still waiting on mine to be built... And it was a eye opener at how basic and cheap feeling the interior is in the maverick. I am currently driving a 2019 Mazda CX9 and in comparison to a maverick, the Mazda is worlds nicer in interior fit and finish and luxury. I know that it is going to feel like I am making a pretty big downgrade going to the maverick once I get it, but the usefulness of the truck bed and the 40+ mpg will hopefully make up for the cheapness of the vehicle as a whole

You're going to be hard pressed to get accurate data on this. The potential for positive bias on an enthusiast geared web forum like this is really high. And further, just by asking this question you're asking the folks with negative experience to yell with a loud voice when in fact they may be just as much in the minority as those that have negative experience with Lexus/Toyota. Meanwhile the silent majority that have minimal to no problems will remain silent because to engage will take work and time which modern Americans have none of in spare.

Gonna have to ask yourself this question: "If I keep my 2017 Lexus, AND the Maverick proves to be reliable, will I kick myself?"

Then again, since Ford can't even fulfill 2023 Hybrid orders, you might as well wait for 2024 order window, get in on it, and take your time making the decision. You'll have a year from now :D

FFS, not this again.

Just DON'T get a "car" (WTF?) if the thought of "car problems" keeps you up at night.

Ha - as a Subaru owner, I can identify with tolerating a cheap plasticky interior for the utility and ability of the vehicle.

FriscoTXJoe is right, disgruntled people are way more vocal than content/happy people. So it speaks volumes that most replies on this post are positive.

I've had my hybrid for 10 months and 13,000+ miles and haven't had a single issue (besides the radio freezing a couple of times). I love this truck and (at this time) wouldn't trade it for any other.

15 months and 25k miles on my Maverick Lariat Lux hybrid. The only issue I’ve had was the windshield washer quit. It was quickly fixed or replaced. I’ve had 2 Lexus, a Lincoln, Ford C-Max hybrid, Subaru, Cadillac, Jeep and a Hyundai EV. My favorite by far is my 22 Maverick, so much so I ordered a 23 Lariat Lux in a different color with June production date!😊👍🏻

I have had my Hybrid for 7 months and have driven 5,744 miles. Once, the engine ran on after I turned the key off, for about 3 seconds. The radio is glitchy when pairing to my phone, but that's probably me. No other issues. I love this thing! But I bought it as a comfortable, low cost work truck, I am not trying to impress anyone, like Lexus drivers think they do.

I will not be buying an extended warranty. The extended warranty just expired on my 2017 Mustang GT convertible. I never used it, nothing needed repair. I bought a longer-term extended warranty on my 2016 F150 and haven't needed it yet. I had several other Fords that were the same. I never had a newly designed vehicle before though. So far so good!

My EcoBoost has also been flawless, and it's got the power.

So glad to hear you're enjoying your Maverick! Thank you for being part of the Ford Family.
