I'm looking at bolting a pelican case to the truck bed right behind the cab in a way that is anti-theft. The pelican v700 seems to be a good fit just based on dimension, and I hope to order one soon.
This is my first truck, so I'm not familiar with my options. What's the best way to lock down a case like that? I was planning on securing it by utilizing the current D-ring locations/those bolt holes.
I'd hate to drill through the case, but I'm willing to if it's my best option.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Surprised that Weather Guard has not made a cross box for it yet.
The one for the ranger might fit, a cross box would be more secure.

Without a picture and measurements I cant do much for ya specifically. But If I wanted to secure something against theft I would weld up a bracket that captures it. Then thread some bolts into whatever pre-threaded mounting holes are proper for its placement then drill a hole in the bracket for the bolt head to seat in then weld that up. Anybody wants to remove it they will need power tools.

you can add locks to the case and then thread thread them, handles, and d rings with a cable lock.

This. Getting a loose case to bolt down is a lot of work and damage. Plus it's in the way of you need to load something. I'd secure with tie straps or bungee and then use a cable lock for security.

Other option is a tonneau cover for security.

If there are handles at both ends, maybe a couple of long padlocks thru the handles to the D-rings?

Pelican makes vehicle cases. Keep in mind, their vault cases aren't meant to be permanent fixtures. They are weather resistant, not weather proof.

Given the size of the v700 you'd almost be better off keeping it in the cab. It may even fit under the rear seats, but don't quote me on that.

I should specify that I picked this box because of it's low profile, I have a camping set up that will fit around this. Otherwise I'd love one of their big cargo boxes.

But honestly, I should maybe just get a cover and ratchet it down out of ease. I'll do some looking at those long pad locks or that cable lock idea too!

Thanks for the ideas so far everyone!

A small Pelican 1170 case fits perfectly under the rear seat at the center hump area.

Also, a Buc-ee's 24 can cooler bag fits in the larger area on the driver's side of the truck.

(I already had both and was able to repurpose).

Hope this helps....
