Peel that sticker off your hitch and Ford will make you pay!

I was cleaning the area around my hitch the other day, getting ready to put on the Mabett bumper hitch cover, and I noticed a warning sticker on the top of the hitch -

It was put on pretty shoddy, off center, so I peeled it off, cleaned the top of the hitch and moved on. Earlier today, while looking up some other parts, I looked it up on the Ford Parts website to see what a replacement sticker/decal would cost.

$39.50 !!!

This thing is about 1 3/4" wide and maybe an inch high, so that's some expensive real estate.
You've probably seen it on the top of your hitch, and never thought about it, but if you like it on there, hope it doesn't ever come loose. Even worse, a gang of sticker thieves might steal it and resell it on Craigslist.

Is that $39.50 before or after the tariff?

That link is for a ten piece sticker set most of which look European so that might explain the price.

It's totally legal for you to remove the tag if you bought the mattress. It's unlawful EXCEPT BY THE CONSUMER. (I'm amazed so few people have read the full, short sentence on the label.)

just have your own sticker made. plenty of places to have custom stickers made. just upload the image and it will come in mail.

As long as you bought the mattress, you're clear. It says it's unlawful to remove EXCEPT BY THE CONSUMER.

So it's okay to remove the tag as long as you then eat the mattress.

Nope.
That's just a "related parts" image for a bunch of different stickers, just like other Ford images for parts (like the rear 'cubby' unit, that shows the cubby, the screws, the tie downs, etc.) If you've ever bought parts directly from Ford, you know they would never send you a set of anything, when they can (over)charge you for each piece separately.
