the interior of my Mav Saturday. Afterwards I pulled into the garage until Monday. I decided to check the oil after a recent oil change. I had taken it to a neighborhood shop that I have been a customer of for 9 years.
As you can see the oil reads a bit above the maximun level. Every other time I've checked the oil, fresh oil change or not, it has been at the top of the cross hatched, nominal, area of the dipstick.
Is this concerning or should I forget about it and be happy for another 9725 miles?
Thanks for your thoughts. Maybe I'll go back to changing my oil...what ramps work under the Maverick?

Have heard different points of view on this topic over the years....

Some claim as long as its not overfilled more than a quart its not a problem cause the OEM engineers factor in oil change service centers (including dealerships) using factory fill quart requirements without ensuring most used oil was fully removed or new oil checked on the stick. Thus leaving a little wiggle room for overfill.

Others state... Dont Do It!

Thats why I always do my own. My vehicle, my money, and my time to waste on someone elses assumptions..... and I fill at/or close to the full line and use some of the required fill oil to prefill all vertical facing up filters. On a few HO motors, I have put on relocation kits to achieve a vertical filter mount for prefill purposes.

I can't see the top of where the oil goes to in your picture - as in how overfilled is it.

A bit isn't awful, assuming above comment is correct - engineers knew and accounted for potential overfill.

If you've ever heard the sound of badly overfilled while engine running - you could listen for that.
Difficulty for hybrid is someone in drivers seat getting the Go pedal to 65% to kick off the ICE and keep it on so you can listen.

The oil level is above the hole in the dipstick on the left. That hole indicates the max oil level. It shows in the manual, it is above the maximun level marker. 🤷

Your crankshaft should not make contact with the oil level in your oil pan. If it does - it could froth the oil which is not good.

Check your oil again. Wipe it off on a rag. Keep repeating this until the oil level goes down. 200 times? Use the oily rag to wipe down any garden or shop tools:)

I use Rhino Ramps for DIY oil change FYI…

Ya, already got that point from 1st post.
2 posts on the point though.

How overfilled potentially?
Really doesn't appear like much.
It's less than the distance from the Nominal to the Max.
Likely fine.

The oil isn't frothy and it has been driven 300 miles or so since the oil change.

Thanks for the advice on the ramps. My old ramps are too tall and steep.

The ramp will depend on your waistline.

I’ve been driving cars and changing oil for over 50 years. Most times when changing oil there’s always some residual oil left in the crankcase/cams/cylinder walls. I just fill to the recommended level. If I go over a little, no worries. I have never blown a head gasket or had any issues. Don’t sweat it.

Harbor freight has some good ramps. I have a pair and they work great for oil changes.
