Catches all the debris that's supposed to be blown out and destroyed through the exhaust. But due to the Ecoboost engine, not all of this debris is destroyed. So it gets caught and builds up over time. A catch-can will prevent this from happening.

It might help prevent or slow down a problem that is arguably endemic to direct injection engines.

Did you spot all the weasel-words in that sentence?

Are there any benefits to installing this on a Hybrid?

It is supposed to help with carbon buildup on intake valves.
Separates oil and air from the mist coming from pcv . Oil drains into can and cleaner air to intake track to burn.

Not a bad feature, but does requires some servicing, check of oil level, draining after running engine.

Ford has a catch can feature on the side of the engine, return oil back to oil pan.

Where, I never seen it?
Not easy to see it. It’s nothing like a beer can size. Seen on this site, posted by another owner, an exploded drawing on it, from Ford drawing of parts. Might try google it . Or try search engine here, this site, and it should pop up.

For those that don't know After the 2024 model the new 2025 has a new redesigned engine that has BOTH direct injection and Port injection on the 2.0 turbo engine .

So if you have a 2025 or new dont BOTHER with an oil catch can. BUT the 22, 23 and 24 could use it. ONLY on 2.0 turbo engine . The turbo itself has NOTHING to do with the need. Its the fact the engine has no fuel flowing by the intake valves which is the cause of carbon build up on intake valves from the egr system. . BUT since new design has port injection too it cleans those intake valves with fuel.

The 2.5 hybrid gas engine only has port injection so NOT needed on any model. .
