Well, right. Nice thing about the one I just bought is the integrated dip stick. From my brief online research it seems people who put them on Ecoboost 2.0s got about 200-300cc (which is how much mine holds) every 3k miles. Being me, I'd be checking it way more often than that.
Yeah, I think its the only reason no manufacturers install them on their vehicles. Nobody would check them, and even if they did they wouldn't safely dispose of the oily water.

Can't lose unless it overfills and you hydrolock your vehicle. They are called oil catch cans, but they catch mostly water.
Water? Ive been using catch cans for over 20 years and none of them have water in them. If you have water you aren't getting the engine to operating temp long enough to burn the moisture off. I have catch cans on every car i own.
