Enough slack in the short hose to allow for engine movement?
See where it is mounted to? That is a flexible plastic cover. It definitely allows for engine movement - but good point for sure.

Did you decide against a second catch can for the 'dirty' side of the system? Dirty in that it carries the gases from the crankcase, through the labarynth/chamber built into the block, to the intake manifold directly. If the crankcase gets overpressure due to blowby when under boost, the flow through the crankcase will go through the chamber, the tube, and into the intake manifold. I have not plumbed the whole PCV system out, but is has a couple valves that open/close depending upon whether under boost pressure or not.
All he above is based on net readings, but if someone has a link to a mo bettah explain, it would be appreciated.
My basic goal by considering a catch can is to attempt to get the most oil laden gas flow, which I think is when under boost. If I have it in my mind correctly, that would be the short connection at the front(radiator) side of the engine plumbing directly from the block to the intake.

I havent touched the other side and not sure if I will. Seems like I would have to remove a lot of stuff to get in there and install another can.

However I will say that after I just drove the truck to Utah and back it definitely had tons of oil/gas in that catch can both when I arrived in Utah and also when I arrived back in Chicago. So I think it's working at least on the intake side.

Update after like 10K miles - it works great! I have gotten in the habit of emptying it every thousand or so miles and there is always a bit of "sewer sludge" in there. Pretty nice to have a visual reminder of how much crap is getting blasted all over your valves if you don't have a catch can!

@Air Shootist, I got the same catch can as yours and it came with softer hose. Why didn't you use those, would too soft that it would flatten?

The hose it came with is in no way suitable and would definitely instantly collapse. Go get the proper thing from the auto parts store like I did.

Update while I'm here: I have now put over 12K miles on this catch can. It catches a TON of greasy oily liquid. Looks like a quarter cup of coffee when I empty it every 2K miles or so. I love that this greasy slop isn't getting sucked over my intake valves now. I imagine this must be helping quite a bit to reduce fouling in there. Very happy with my extremely cheap investment.

I see, was checking to see if the reasoning for not using them was the same.....I agree as well.
