I'm not sure if your being sarcastic or not. All I know is that XL's do not have the black there. XLT's and up do.
No....not being sarcastic....but I think you may be correct....with a CATCH....only the 2025 XLs are body color.....all previous model years XLs were black.

This is correct. I thought we established we were only talking 25 MY here since OP was asking specifically about his 25 XL.

Possible. Seems like a weird spot to cut cost. I mean, probably saving pennies but I guess pennies do add up when were talking volume.
At least $5 per truck when you figure the cost of vinyl, cutting it, and installing it correctly. 40,000 XL trucks would be $200k at $5 each. Might be small, but 5 little things like that could easily be $1 million a year profit.

Enshittification at its core. The problem comes when you've already stripped a product down the the barest essentials and start looking for more things to save money on. Thinner parts, fewer stitches, lower grades of plastic.

That looks better in my opinion
I think the blacked-out B-pillars give the truck a smoother look, and makes that area feel more 'wide open' than it otherwise would with that space visually being broken up with the painted pillars.

Reminds me of some of this kind of cool back from the '60s:

I like the black vinyl for this reason.

Ford Maverick Normal, or unique? truck2-

See that effect now? I'd be willing to bet that the designers added the blackout vinyl for that purpose.

Since we all like customizing our vehicles, I've seen others here who've also painted the lower black plastic to be body-color. But I think some of these black accents make the Mav look more distinctive as a truck. When everything is body-color, it feels like it looks more like every other truck on the road.

Just my opinion, we all like what we like.

Just realized my 25 XL hybrid has eruption green between the front and rear windows instead of satin black vinyl.

Very easy to do. Small screw driver to pry the top of the key pad, pop off, remove vinyl, pop back on. Your keypad will be more noticeable though.
Yes sir I watched a video today about the exact same thing and It looked much better

Very true. I had not considered that. I might think about matte tailgate letters now to match.
Exactly why I noticed it. Finger prints.

I can remember a time when the automakers clad that area with bright metalwork as a way of denoting a higher trim level in a sedan model line. As hardtop options disappeared, the area started to get the mat black treatment to lend the vehicle a more sporty hardtop style appearance.

🤓 On most of the other trucks, if you peel that black vinyl off, you’ll see the color of your truck.

Seems like stock pics show the vinyl there, actual photos of XL's don't.
I walked the lot at H-CS this morning. Could not find the EG you tried to buy, but they have this CG poverty-edition, has the body color between the doors, as well as the dealer add-on sticker,,,,,
