The manual peep hole is a waste. Then add the fact it is a 4 door truck makes it even more.

If it was a standard cab or extended cab maybe the peep hole makes sense

I added the window to my Maverick. I use the manual one on my '04 Ranger all the time. I leave it slightly open to vent the heat the builds up when the Ranger is parked. Even with tinted windows and using a sunshield in the front window, the Ranger develops a lot of heat inside out here in AZ. Yes, I do realize there is a security concern leaving it open, but I feel it a small risk to take.

It's a lot cheaper to get the $155 Manual Sliding Rear window than the $795 sunroof.
I've never had a manual sliding window fail, but I've had 2 sunroofs crap out on me!!

Peep hole? What do you do in your free time, lol? I’m jk.

But really, maybe a waste for some but not for all. I’m telling you, my kids will have that thing open every time we get in the truck. If I can spend $800 to upgrade to wheels and tires that make me happy, I can spend $155 on a window that will make them happy.

Of course I need the sunroof as well- I'm hooked on all these + options/Ugh- I guess another question is how many are adding the sunroof and slider on non-Lariat builds ?

I can't understand why you need copilot on the xl trim to get the window.
Don't know for sure. If that's the case, maybe it's a tacit admission by Ford that the sliding window impedes the rear and right blind-spot view (so you need the additional safety features).

Just a guess...

Why are people bashing this window? It is an OPTION for a reason. Some people like me will want it and others will not. I mean come on to each its own. Did every one get the same trim? The same color? The same powertrain? Kudos to Ford for giving us these OPTIONS to add what we want

I get it. Been there, done that and have the tshirt. I am on the other side as an empty nester this year. First time able to buy a truck I want and look for a house without worrying about the school district.

A little advice from experience, make sure you have the backseat treated with some type of protectant. Kids will always tell you they closed the window! Mold or wet seats don't make them happy. Enjoy your window and time with the kids.

It was one or the other for me so at this moment it's the rear window...
This truck will be my commuter until I retire (6-7 years) so I may go with the sunroof for resale value. Still trying to figure this out...

I mean its just another $155 to my already 32k build but looks like it obscures what little vision the rear glass has anyways - trying to see if I would ever use it.
I actually added later - if I have to pick up pipe, usually 10ft, I can slip into the window. Only reason I have it is to stick long stuff through

10 feet would protrude about 5 feet into the passenger compart- How would that work ?

It's nostalgic as well. I have one in my '71 and I still use it once in a while. When launching a fishing boat like I will be doing, I'm sure the sliding window will come in handy communicating when loading and unloading. Down the road, probably get a cap/topper and the window might come in handy in that situation too. I'll be looking out for a cab-high topper, black sleek looking smoked side window design to come out aftermarket for the Maverick.
