I'm looking to purchasing a 2024 Maverick XLT hybrid this weekend. Should I? Just reading a bit on the forum and getting a little nervous over issues I'm seeing. Car stalling on a interstate concerns me.

I'm coming from a Toyota. My wife really likes the Maverick and fuel economy. I drive a Tundra and she's trading in a 2015 Camry that we had since new.

If I do purchase would it be wise to purchase an extended warranty?

I purchased my wife a 24 xl hybrid in december of 23, it has 6000 miles now. We have had no problems and no extended warranty. Her mpg is 42.

Personally, I like my 2022 Ecoboost...Really good mileage and that extra power really helps at times though I've never driven the hybrid...I bought mine about 14 to 15 weeks ago...2022 1st edition Lariat...Am digging the Lariat package, the area 51 color but if I ordered one, I would definitely recommend adding the tow package

Bought a 24 XL Hybrid in January now have 9,707 miles and absolutely no problems and love this thing. Best vehicle I have ever had.
Get it I think you will be happy most of the problems you are hearing about are on the 22 and 23 MY.

Had my my '24 Lariat hybrid since Nov and only have 2000 45 MPG trouble free miles but do love it. Just watch the forum here to avoid problems (like bad recalls), there have been few if any problems with '24's.

Have been wanting the Mav hybrid since it came out. Waited for 2024s hoping kinks would be worked out. Bought new 2024 hybrid XLT lux March 28, no extended warranty, love everything about it. Had a 2012 Fusion hybrid that I bought new, which I also loved, love my truck more.

My 2024 hybrid Lariat arrived in November 2023, an early build '24. It has 3k miles on it now. No issues. Great mpg in the land of $5.++ 87 octane. It is a joy to drive. I disabled/cancelled FordPass, I do my own oil changes and keep it away from the dealer. My VIN has not had any recalls.

Extended warranty: I am not a fan. For the first 3 years you are wasting money for double coverage if I understand most plans.

I will evaluate my Mav close to the time the 3/36 factory warranty is about to expire. If the Mav has been troublesome, I will sell it rather than deal with the time-consuming and frustrating repair experience with FoMoCo under an extended warranty. Life is too short for the fuckery dealers create.

By then, there will be an EV version of the Mav. It won't go 600 miles on a charge like my hybrid does on a tank but I will adapt, charge it at home during off-peak hours at night and kiss oil changes good bye.

Thanks for all of the replies. I will be going in on Saturday to inspect, test drive and hopefully buy if everything checks out. I was lucky in finding this one. The local dealer said it would take 8 months to come in. I left my contact name with a few other dealers and got a call of only one in the area that had the options we wanted. It's a silver XLT hybrid with the luxury package so it gets the heated seats and steering wheel. I'll post picks after I pick it up.

I purchased my 24 XLT Lux on 1/9/24 - 2800 miles. No issues. Love everything about it. Seems the 22 and 23 have issues to navigate. It’s been the best decision I’ve made in awhile.

Coming to a Maverick forum filled with a bunch of enthusiasts and asking if you should buy one. No worries on getting biased opinions - we aren't those kind of people here!

My concerns would be build and material quality differences where the cabin is concerned. I don't know what a 2015 Camry is like on the interior but our XLT Mavericks are a bit Spartan and utilitarian. Any Toyota I have been in simply has a better interior. Cabin noise might be a consideration too. I can imagine the Toyota is a little quieter, I could be wrong.

Most all of the issues that the '22 Hybrids have are resolved for the '24 model year.

Get an extended warranty from @Granger Ford for next to nothing as they sell it right near their cost. It is wild how cheap they are compared to standard pricing!

Be happy with your purchase. The Maverick has some growing pains to endure for sure. But I think the 2024's will perform better.

TL;DR - concerns are valid, the gamble is yours on both purchase and warranty.
If it's peace of mind .. get the warranty (hybrid or not ...Ford or not).

I'm just nosy ... did you/your wife consider a new Camry Hybrid?
I mean, you have a Tundra for truck stuff and the Camry is nice and beats the Hybrid Mav at
EPA MPG estimates. It's a Toyota ..a brand you already are used to.

I have a '23 Hybrid XLT Mav.
It has at least three or four outstanding recalls i am not concerned about fixing anytime soon.
I don't have any apparent issues.

My only concern is the reports of axles going bad and how hard they are to replace on my own.
