I found an expensive solution to my seat problem. After taking my Fiance to the doctor in the maverick (15 minute drive) my back acted up again. Im 31, so really not expected. I broke down and traded the maverick in, and no more lingering back pain. Its a shame, i really enjoyed the truck.

I am sorry to hear you had to go to such extreme measures to deal with you back pain issue.

I hope your next vehicle works out better for you!

Safe travels,

Andy

The seats in the Maverick are not that great. They're barely even good. If I travel in my Maverick for more than an hour, I have to have a pillow to sit on.
I had problems with most GM automobiles I've owned. The seat just seemed too close to the floor. I could not get enough thigh support.
What did you end up buying??

sounds expensive alright and probably at least partially an excuse for your buyer's remorse. either that or you have some serious back issues that need looked at and/or core strengthening to do.

you didn't mention what you replaced the maverick with, but whatever it is I hope you find it comfortable.

I've had quite a few cars in the last few years. The only one that ever caused me back pain was the Maverick. My Jetta, fine, my GLI, fine, my 2004 titan with 200k miles, fine. Ive driven several 20+ year old cars for several hours in the last year no issue. Same day i could drive the maverick 20 minutes and drive my Jetta 2 hours and only the maverick had me in pain. The week before I bought the maverick, I spent 20 hours over 2 days in an SUV with 0 issues.

I also Hit the gym 3 times a week, have for several years now. I also have a personal trainer, who is specifically focused on my core. I am a bigger guy, but for the maverick to by only car I have pain in amongst a wide wide field, its hard for me to agree that I am the issue and not the seats.

I am not blasting the Maverick. I think it's a great vehicle. The seats just did not agree with me.

I ended up with a VW GTI. Complete 180 from the maverick. I originally went to drive the Atlast / Tiguan.

Edit: Yes i find it comfortable. Similar trips are completely different between the Mav and the GTI.

Dm me if you had the same issue as my wife, who couldn't quite reach the gas pedal comfortably...she had to hold her foot in the air!

I did post it here on MTC somewhere, but would have to look to find the "organ pedal" post I got on Amazon and put in..it works great for both of us! I included photos in the post, to help others see what i did.

Have a nice day,

Andy
I did have that problem. Once I tipped it forward, it was better. Now I go all the way up, then back it off a little. It's perfect. My heel just hits the floor and I can see fine.
Our 2016 Western Star we had to screw 3" blocks to the break and the clutch so I could drive it. So I have been there!!

Hi all,

I purchased my maverick earlier this month. Its a 25 ecoboost XLT with the luxury package. It has the cloth power driver seat. The truck is great, except the seats dont work for me. I know many folks find the seats just fine, but after about 30 minutes they make my back hurt, after an hour im squirming. I recently did a road trip for memorial day weekend and after 3 hours, I had to stop driving. I am not criticizing the maverick, I just need some advice. As it stands right now I cant use the truck for half the things I bought it for.

I have tried adding amazon cushions to the back rest and the bottom of the seat, they were mildly helpful but not a fix. I also tried just laying a blanket over the seat, helped some but only for 10-15 minutes. I am a bigger guy, but the car I drive to work is a Jetta, so being cramped isnt the issue for me.

If you have any advice on the seats please share.
😵 I’m 5’2”, I wish I had power seats.

I’m not trying to sound like an ass but have you considered another approach?

This worked for me, I was a tractor trailer driver. I logged 2.0 million miles.
I was having problems like your describing.
I lost 42 pounds and got my abs in shape.
I strengthened my abs, obliques and quads and got into a regular routine of stretching.
After a month I was comfortable sitting my whole day in the saddle.
My Maverick lariat seats are very comfortable to me.
I was 202 pounds now 160. I’m good
Do you still exercising?!

Is it the seat or the suspension that is the issue?

Specifically the seats and the lumbar hump.

I actually got a mustang recently.( still
Have the gti) and it’s definitely a ford seat design. Thankfully, it’s not nearly as bad as the maverick was. Just sore after a 3 hour drive.

I was willing to go for the mustang since the seats are easy to swap to just about anything aftermarket

My Mustang's seats are wayyyyyyyy more comfortable than the hybrid Mav's, not to mention being leather and heated AND cooled.
