Hi all,

I purchased my maverick earlier this month. Its a 25 ecoboost XLT with the luxury package. It has the cloth power driver seat. The truck is great, except the seats dont work for me. I know many folks find the seats just fine, but after about 30 minutes they make my back hurt, after an hour im squirming. I recently did a road trip for memorial day weekend and after 3 hours, I had to stop driving. I am not criticizing the maverick, I just need some advice. As it stands right now I cant use the truck for half the things I bought it for.

I have tried adding amazon cushions to the back rest and the bottom of the seat, they were mildly helpful but not a fix. I also tried just laying a blanket over the seat, helped some but only for 10-15 minutes. I am a bigger guy, but the car I drive to work is a Jetta, so being cramped isnt the issue for me.

If you have any advice on the seats please share.

To confirm, have you tried adjusting the power lumbar on the driver's seat?

I have. It generally makes the situation worse in any other setting than minimum.

Ford Maverick Need tips for making the seats more comfortable 20250528_082358

Good morning. Yes, seat comfort is a fickle thing.

I find my Lariat seat quite comfortable, but I don't know if the cloth seat is comparable.

Here is what we do for different vehicles we have owned...I don't use my tailbone cushion on my Mavrick as the seat fits me properly, but I need it for most other seats.

(I slipped on the stairs, playing with my grand daughter and my tailbone absorbed the impact...takes forever to go away, still waiting patiently).

The 2nd item is what we use on the passenger side, as Mavericks don't have lumbar support available there, not even manual. Come on Ford, passengers need lumbar support to, for goodness sake...but Again, I have digressed.

You haven't said specifically what is giving you discomfort, so maybe these ideas are more helpful than suggesting a Kardashian-inspired booty-bootie...implant?

;-)

Just kidding of course, But I do hope you find a resolution to your discomfort.

Hmm, my previous reply disappeared.

Short possible answer is a tailbone cushion may help tailbone...or change the seat angle a bit for legs.

If experiencing Sciatica, I carry a hard tennis size ball for those times it occurs (hasn't happened in my Lariat yet, but have to be prepared. Place under origin point and massage it out.

A bigger lumbar support spring mesh product like in our passenger seat....come on Ford, passenger seat needs lumbar as well!

But I digress....We don't know what your particular discomfort is, so just guessing.

Hope this helps,

Andy

I was far more clever about the Kardashian-inspired booty implants earlier, but this will have to do, 2nd time around. ;-)

I added washers under the front bolts of the rails in order to lift the front edge of the seat. I think I raised it about 1/2" which made a big difference in comfort for me and cost about $2.25 and 6 minutes. I used 3 of these on each side.

I’m not trying to sound like an ass but have you considered another approach?

This worked for me, I was a tractor trailer driver. I logged 2.0 million miles.
I was having problems like your describing.
I lost 42 pounds and got my abs in shape.
I strengthened my abs, obliques and quads and got into a regular routine of stretching.
After a month I was comfortable sitting my whole day in the saddle.
My Maverick lariat seats are very comfortable to me.
I was 202 pounds now 160. I’m good

Thanks for this information. My biggest complaint is the power seat will raise or lower but no tilt. I would like support under my thighs. Raising the seat just makes it higher but doesn't help.
the front is fixed, or something very near it.

when you raise and lower the seat height whether it's the mechanical pump handle or you have a power motor, the rear of the seat rises but the front really doesn't change.

this causes a change in the seat bottom angle. if you have the seat really low, the high front is super uncomfortable for most people. so, even if you're tall or just like a lower driving position like I do (I'm only 6'0") I would raise the seat enough to make the seat bottom cushion closer to level.

the opposite happens if a short person raises the seat very high. past a certain point, the seat bottom actually is more than level and it feels like you're sliding forward... because you are.

people complain about the easily scuffed interior plastics, but I think the worst thing Ford did in the Maverick in the name of cost savings is this terrible seat height adjustment.

Thanks for the reply! Interestingly, ive found that the passenger seat is more comfortable for me than the driver. my lower back hurts first, then if i move into a position that works for my lower back the upper back and shoulders complain.

I had to stop on 1st long trip and bought a faux sheepskin large about 16” square) and very thick (8”) home decorator pillow from Target home department. Immediate relief- felt like sitting on a cloud and also gave better line of sight - felt like an over the road trucker. Even after the butt pain from my then recent procedure was gone I have kept this $30 pillow in place for improved comfort. Getting in requires some extra climb up and in effort to keep it in position but I just drove it 2900 miles over 8 consecutive days with no seating comfort issues ( or any others). Definitely worth trying.
