Yowsa- I would contact Ford and start working on a diminished value claim/lawsuit- That's pretty horrific- I still am grumpy about the crappy headliner replacement that was done on my rig but at least I had a dealer that took the truck back and spent half a day re-aligning everything , cleaning the headliner and such -
Hopoefully you have recent dated pics from before the "service". An attorney call for damages and every exopense with pain and suffering thrown in for good measure. Contacting regional and district managers and VP level at Ford would be in order as well. BBB bad reviews go a long way.
Im coming up on my first service on my 24 Lariat and will do some dealer review searchs today.

Contact who?
thanks for your reply
There’s a complaint process you can access through Ford that has what’s called a regional ombudsman as I remember it gets elevated past your dealer. The Dealership should actually refer you to him. If you can’t reach a solution with the dealer I’m sure with a little digging it can be found online.

My 22 Maverick the dash was rattling and so was the passenger side front seat so I brought it into the Ford dealer for inspection
They call me back and say they are going to replace the dash. I was not expecting that at all…
My gut told me to tell them to NOT replace the dash but they said no we got this and can fix it no problem.
They called me at 4pm this past Monday. I told my advisor I’ll pick her up tomorrow morning so that I can fill up the gas and whatnot with their rental.
42 days later I finally pickup my truck.
They gave me a loaner 2025 Ford Escape
3-cylinder turbo for the entire duration.
You know what I did? I spent yesterday morning for a couple hours washing and vacuuming their Escape before going to get my Maverick back so their car looked mint when I brought it back.
I was expecting the same decency with my Maverick.
So I do the paperwork with them and give them their keys back and they hand me my keys and say I’m good to go. Your Maverick is parked out front.
I walk out to my car and walk up to it and was immediately in total, utter disgust. Keep in mind I keep my car waxed and mint on a regular basis.L

Here is what I walked out to my car and how she looked upon pickup:

1. Bird poop ALL over my car and I’m not talking one or two/three bird droppings. It was absolutely covered. Like a giant carnivore bird crapped out an entire rodent or somthing on my car and they didn’t even bother to wash it?
Unreal. All over a $700 Tonneau cover.

2. The new dashboard is scratched and so is glove box and my center console.

3. They put deep scratches in my garage kept, never even seen winter, super low miles 14,xxx Maverick’s paint that are DEEP and most of them are all the way through to the bare metal… 😭

4. the door seal is now incorrectly installed on both front doors (laying on top of the other seal and not butted up like it’s supposed to be) and it’s TORN/RIPPED… 😭😡

5. The new dashboard rattles worse than the original one did over bumps.

6. There was a mysterious “bonus/extra” orange clip just laying in drink holder next to the gear selector.

7. They left multiple clips left hanging and not attached to where they go (under seat and under dash. Which makes you wonder if there’s more stuff you can not see, that’s left not correctly installed. Like behind the dash…

8. The headliner is now dirty and it’s exposed on the driver side from being tucked under the seal.

9. I think my hood was left open a long time because it has bird poop under the hood and is very dirty / dusty now.

10. Now when you drive the car, it smells like burning oil coming from the engine bay.

11. The Windshield wiper cowl is now not sitting flush / is misaligned with the windshield which will allow water/ debris to freely go into the gap/space.

I’m absolutely shocked and horrified.
I did talk to the manger and he did say we will make it right with me. Which I do appreciate. However for the dealer to even let my truck end up like this and than leave like this, is absolutely shocking.

I show the service advisor all of the issues and he instructs me to go sit in waiting room while he talks to the manager. Maybe an hour or more passes and he comes back and says you can bring it back on the 9th and we will fix it all. Get a load of this. They were going to have me leave with the truck just like this. All covered in bird poop and filthy.
So I ask to talk to the manager myself.
The service advisor says ok and instructs me to wait in the waiting room for him. The advisor finally comes back and says he’s in a meeting can he just call you later? I replied no I want to talk to him and show him everything myself. So I wait another hour! Manager finally comes down and I show him everything. He tells me he owns a Maverick also and apologized. He asked me if I wanted it cleaned before I take it home. I said yes. He said give us 20 minutes and I’ll have to back to you. About 20/30 min goes by and all they cleaned off was the bird poop off the tonneau cover…
So I was at the dealer for almost 4 hours for all of this. Now I have to bring it back on the 9th and get another loaner while they supposedly “fix” it.

Hard lesson learned…. Don’t let anyone touch your car. Not even the dealer.
I’m a very talented car detailer and know how to turn wenches and fix stuff.
I would have NEVER EVER left someone’s car like this in this kinda condition…

It’s so easily to carefully remove a door seal and NOT tear it and it’s very easy to know how to “fit” a door seal so it fits correctly and does NOT overlap and lay on top of each other….
That’s common sense basics right there.
So I’m in utter disbelief and heart broken.

My poor first year Maverick w/ factory options that’s they no longer even come with. She kinda a rare truck being velocity blue hybrid XLT with Luxury package and the painted mirrors and only 14,000 miles…. That has never seen winter and was garage kept and babied its whole life. She didn’t deserve this.

What should I do? I’m so upset about this. I wish they never touched my truck. They did more harm, than good to my truck.

This post is from another thread. It might help others who have a dash rattle.
I would be inclined to order the parts and install them myself.
Both a 12v fix and this in one day? Ford is actually paying attention.

I have this problem except mine is not two-wheel drive. 😆😆😆

Full TSB, including repair procedure, is here.

Video of how to place the block on the passenger side is here:

Absolutely unacceptable service. Contact Ford Corporate and push back.
With our first Maverick, 2022, our local dealer corrected a recall on front side airbags, in this process the tech scratched the dash. They replaced the dash, however, after that, we experienced a very foul odor in which was black mold growing. We contacted Ford corporate and requested a full replacement Maverick. After a very long 7 months, they finally replaced our Maverick at zero out of pocket from us.
So being said, we have to push back on corporate and take a firm stand.

Geez I'm usually pretty chill and not litigious but I would tell the manager with no fear of sounding mean or condescending, that when they fix it to put a new Mav nearby to compare since they clearly cannot just identify a problem on their own. I'd also let them know this dash could end up costing them a new truck if they don't get all the fixes right the first time.

Easy to eliminate rattles following the TSB and threads on here.

The bird shit could have been remedied in 10 minutes with a run through their car wash.

Being a 2022 and understand how easily these interiors scratch I can’t believe that all of those scratches were caused by the dealer in some of those high traffic areas.

Regardless you have some beef here and I would go back with your documentation and rationally and calmly ask them to correct.

All the damage is consistent with the work that was done. They had to take the seats out annd the dashboard out and there’s scratches everywhere.
There’s even deep scratches on both sides of the front painted door sills. All consistent with the work that was done. Probably scraped/scratched when taking the seats out or the dash or both.
Even the new dashboard has deep scratches in it.
So I would disagree. I know my truck. It was in basically show room condition when I dropped it off and it for sure did NOT have all of these scratches.

Nicely measured response Cal. Good advice. For the OP, tone is important.

You need to call the 1-800 number that Ford has and file a case. You also need to push them for the district manager or whatever the hell they call them. Be respectful to these folks but be very firm on what it is you're asking for. They can authorize another dealer to fix these issues.

How do I know? Well... Because Evergreen Ford in Issaquah Washington left nuts off of my airbag recall, which could have killed me or my passengers, and I had another dealer check their shoddy work.

This is absolutely unacceptable.

And that is totally fair - recent photos of the interior PRIOR to the work being completed would be helpful in your case with the dealer.

I am not saying you do not have legitimate issues but even my 5 month old 2025 has some interior scratches in the areas you highlighted and like you I claim to keep it in showroom quality (interior vacuumed and wiped down twice a week).

FWIW my '23 only has two scratches inside - one where I was running some wire behind the dash and the 12 awg copper fish line scratched under the wheel and the other is where the dealer scratched the ever loving hell above my OBD port when they installed the software recalls.

I go to great lengths to keep scratches off the plastic as I know I will be selling it at some point for a newer model so want to keep it in perfect condition. If I got my car back in the OP's condition after all I've done I would be devastated.

That being said I would've never let the dealer replace the dash on mine. I would've sold it first lol. That's major work on a new(ish) car and nothing beats a factory fit.

With the new dashboard being scratched and both driver and passenger side door sills have fresh scratches in the paint that are all the way through to the bare metal, is enough proof of everything I’m saying. They had to take the seats and the dash out and consequently my vehicle was damaged in that process. It’s obvious with the damage that’s on the new dash and the damage that is consistent with the work that was performed.
Plus the dealer already admitted fault because they even know it was all done by them. It’s that obvious. They admitted guilt and offered to repair it and an apology.
If the new dash wasn’t all scratched up, I would agree with you. With the new dash being all scratched up, and it was like this upon pickup, is proof that this happened on their watch and during the repair.

I feel your pain, I too was 'Mugged by Mr. Badwrench' in 1992 on my 1990 Ranger.

I took it to another dealer to repair. It still hurts to remember, even after 33 years.
