45 year old here and always modified my vehicles. Always enjoyed improving my vehicles speed and handling abilities. Been turning wrenches since I was 20 and now I fix Excavators and Front end loaders for a living. The Maverick is actually my first American Vehicle. I spent most of my life playing with JDM vehicles. Plan to make it a little sport truck. Here is my old Galant vr4.

Sitting here at home, I was just thinking about us Maverick Owners. We are a dieding breed of car guys! We are the guys who over 50 years have been modifing all our vehicles to make them different from other peoples cars, and trucks. Todays younger crowd are into tuning, not us, we like to change and add things. Truck guys are hands on people from the minute you drives your truck home, the wheels in your head are thinking what this truck needs! The Maverick was the perfect vehicle to do things to. You could buy basic XL, or go all in like I did with a loaded Lariat, (I still have my 56 Tbird to play with) Even at 84, I still like to get my hands dirty. What's your thinking on this post?
I've never "modded" any of my previous vehicles except for rain guards for my side windows and tinting. I did those with my Maverick plus added a hood deflector, custom floor mats and mud flaps. Not much compared to others here but more than I've ever accessorized any other vehicle.

67 here and back on my day I was a lowrider. That's right. 67 and 69 T Birds. 69 in street car shows. Lifted all the way around. And in fact looking for a 62 thru 66 T Bird to tinker with but loving my "little beast" 22 Lariat 1st Edition Lariat. And the several mods I've added

I turn next month. I’ve owned mostly new vehicles since my mid-20’s. There was a time I could change my plugs, air filter, do an oil change, and basic maintenance, but I never added any accessories to any of them until I bought my loaded hybrid Lariat. While I gave up the basic maintenance and left that to the local Ford or Lincoln dealers, I have added various accessories to my truck. I’m usually a “three and out” type of buyer, but I plan on keeping the Maverick much longer than three years. I know there’s not any ROI on add-on accessories, but “my wheels were turning” as to what I wanted to add on before I drove the truck home. Those “wheels” are thinking of other accessories I want to add to the truck.

66, almost 67 and still like to do my own oil changes, tire rotations. Plugs last forever now so when it's time to have that and injectors cleaned, I take it to my local trusted independent garage. You know the kind of place I'm talking about. The owner still runs it, the Flat screen is on, magazines are there to read and the owner is always ready to talk about cars, sports and good food...............
Yep, I use same type place, 3 generations and still going family shop. It’s in their blood. Grandpa stills shows up most days, turn a wrench hour or so, puts tools up and socializes. They can fix bout anything you roll in there with but their quick to tell what you can do with your EV

Sorta. In my local trusted garage, there's no TV or magazines. You're in the same room as the lift bays and BS with the owner or his son or grandson while they work on customer's vehicles. I think there's one chair for customers. We enjoy the rare time together because they only get to do jobs on my vehicles that require equipment/tools that I can't afford.

I think it's a hoot that all the Ford ads show millennials but so many actual owners seem to be boomers. IMHO the Maverick is not so easy to modify when compared to older technology where actual switches controlled things directly without going thru a computer. It should not be a problem if you want to install LED brake lights, eh?

Yeah, I don’t think you’re a dying breed. They’re are plenty of people across the generations who are tinkerers, and like to personalize Their vehicles. Especially since manufacturers make vehicles Incredibly boring. I would love to do some of the things I read about on this website, however I have the Mechanical ability of a kumquat, so not in the cards. But I may pay someone to wrap it in a violently visible color.

I'm 67 and have had my Maverick for a year. I had the dealership put on a roll up tonneau cover, spray in bed liner, paint protection and undercoating. The only thing I did myself was black Maverick lettering on the tailgate and a box for the dash cubby that has an orange Maverick on it. Other than that I think this truck is perfect for me. I love it!

Truth be told, I've seen drivers of all ages and genders piloting their Mavericks around. I think the Maverick has so many pluses that it appeals to a wide range of folks. It might just be the MTC is mostly composed of those who want to tinker with their Maverick and also have no qualms about going online about it.

Right.

The sample you see online is only a small percentage of all Maverick owners and many treat it no different than their last "whatever". A while back I think I saw that only about 10% of the 200,000 total Maverick owners are online and that's those of us that are interested in their vehicle and want to tweak it.

I'm fast approaching 72 and will be ordering my Maverick as soon as Job 2 opens up for hybrid AWD and been working on all my cars since my first one 66 Ford Glaxacy 500 that I rebuild from the ground up in the early 70's

Been driving 58 years. It's been so long my motorcycle endorsement on my license was grandfathered to me in 1966. :ROFLMAO: I had a Triumph T100. Great times.

Yes, indeed, I love fossil fuels.

70s here. I only do modifications/additions for usage, not looks. Added fogs because I drive in fog. Changed tires because I drive down fire roads occasionally. Added a roof rack to carry my canoes.
