Its really amazing what the price point is before it effects people, $5 RUG hasn't slowed down or bothered anyone here i can tell. So the price point is $6, $7, $8 gal? I kept my f150 3.5 that can muster 25mpg, however I am putting the miles on the 53mpg Mav. I have noticed just a handful of people slowing down and doing the speed limit!!

Then there's the people that put $5 worth of RUG in their tank, said it will get me to work. Well now you got to stop and get fuel on the way home.

Sometimes its almost comical.
Millions and millions of Americans have very little left at the end of their pay week. They may have ten dollars left. $5 for gas and $5 to buy a box of Mac and cheese and a can of tomatoes to feed their family . I once worked with a woman who was practically in tears and ashamed to ask me for $20 to buy groceries to feed her children. Their was nothing comical about it.Our government does not do a very good job in making sure fathers live up to their responsibility . And yes, she paid me back the next paycheck even though I told her not to.

NJ, you took me wrong, i agree with your thoughts on people being short on money, i am fixed income as well, hence the Mav purchase. I ask my wife regurlarly how are people making it?

Whats comical is it doesnt stop or even slow down 95% of the people out there to slow down and gain some FE. People pass me when i am 5mph over the speed limit and they are 20 over, then i pull up to them and even roll pass them at the next light. But they just gas it and haul ass again. Thats whats comical.

I have to say, on my 100 mile commute to San Antonio and back on I 10 the average speed people drive is unbelievable. Not running in the fast lane in my C-Max I average between 33-35 mpg, you are literally taking your life in your hands if you try and travel anywhere close to the posted speed limit. No law enforcement does not help, I can't imagine what some of these peoples fuel costs must be every month! Before covid hit and SA traffic cops and DPS where enforcing the speed limits, I could manage 40 mpg at 75-65. Amazingly, the worst offenders seem to be full size pickups, some 3/4 1 ton trucks have to be getting single digit fuel economy figures.
My EB AWD Maverick was purchased to replace my 14 C-Max, it's not going anywhere until things hopefully return to normal, if ever.
No full size PU hate here, I have a 2019 F150 and love it.

https://www.way.com/blog/56-of-amer... those surveyed, still driving the same amount.

"Over 56% of those surveyed said they were feeling the pain at the pump and were now driving less to the increase in gas costs..."

While some may not see it, people are absolutely driving less - tons of data out there supporting this statement. The cost of gas doesn't affect our financial situation at all, but it has gotten us thinking about all the unnecessary driving we do. For instance, my wife cut down driving into the office MWF and now just commutes 1-day a week. I am now riding my e-bike as much as I can. My wife's best friend is a single mom, median earner, who unfortunately is stuck in a lease on a gas-chugging SUV she basically can't afford to drive. She's trying to negotiate more work-from-home with her employer while we have basically become her taxi (trips to the grocery store, etc.) and have been indirectly helping out financially in other ways.

^^ The problem here is some of use are tagged "essential workers". We have been commuting every day since covid (no working from home option), using vacation and sick leave when needed and dealing with much more dangerous drives. Now some police departments are going to be cutting back patrolling even more due to gas prices. Amazingly sad situation we have found ourselves in.

Guv, good thoughts same as i see it, most of the offenders are big vehicles that get single digit FE. Then they say if i am going to get bad FE, i minds well drive fast and make up for it. I dont do interstates.

I have an awesome 2018 f150 ecoboost 3.5 that i havent driven since i got back from getting my Mav. The Mav is awesome as well.

Some of the problem here in Tx. fuel is cheap compared to other portions of US. And has started ti come down some $.30g.

Didn’t take a photo but I just did my first fill up last night. Just about 600 miles. 47.4 mpg on the dash, 46.7 doing the math with a 12.8 gallon fill up.

Still, you made it easy, you had 650mpt, now tweak it a little more and you will be in the 700mpt club.
