I’ve had my Lariat w/Lux since Friday. The seamless transition from ice to electric and back is super smooth. It’s much like our 2013 Prius C.

I have a little over 200 miles on it and have 3/4 of a tank left.

I like watching the EV coach. Speed up moderately to the desired speed then let off the gas then a light throttle and be in electric mode. Let off the pedal and it starts to charge the battery.

The only thing I wish it had was a picture of the battery like the Prius C so you can and see the state of charge by the led lines.

I tried Sport mode today for the first time because I forgot it had it, lol. It gives it a little more pep.

Love the auto high beam head lights. In dark area high beams come on. When it detects a lighted area or on coming traffic lowers back to low beams. Pretty cool.

Today when driving I called my son thru blu tooth and it automatically lowered the radio and put the a/c fan speed to a lower setting. Wasn’t expecting that.

Over really impressed and so happy with it. The wait was totally worth it.

I picked up my Maverick one day shy of a week ago and thought I would offer a brief review. I owned a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid in the past that I had ordered direct from Ford so have previous hybrid experience. Of course the wait this time was excruciating compared the 2009 when I had the order within 120 days. I think the Maverick has as similar style to that 2009 Escape Hybrid, but the Maverick’s upgraded technology really gives this vehicle a unique feel when driving.

The Maverick Hybrid is a fun truck to drive…responsive yet smooth and just the right size for zipping around town. I have the Lariat Luxury trim so enjoy the decent sound system (a must for me). Fit and finish was fresh and clean – the bed features and tonneau are great and a breeze to use. I even had the chance to enjoy the sun roof and back window for a nice breeze while parked for a bit. The compact size has been a plus for me as it makes it easier to pull in and out of my garage compared to my previous ride.

I think one of the most remarkable aspects of the Ford Maverick Hybrid is the new eCVT. My old hybrid didn’t have the eCVT, so this was my first experience. It works great - but definitely changes the acceleration paradigm in my opinion. You expect an engine to rev to a crescendo then shift into the next gear, but that never happens…when you look at the speedometer you see you’ve quickly achieved your intended speed without the rise and fall rev sound of traditional shifting. I think it’s really cool…especially when you’re cruising in electric mode – smooth.

I really like the seats as they feel like they were designed for me specifically - I just fit perfect. Push button Start is good and the Touch Entry is my new baseline. I like the traditional, boxy truck styling/hood and appreciate the full horn…I don’t like those ‘meep-meep’ horns that some small vehicles have. I did quick tests of the ACC with lane keeping – all really cool. I like the way it keeps distance automatically though I’m still learning to trust. The lane keeping I think is best for highways as it doesn’t deal well with traffic circles or windy roads (performs best with well marked highway lines). I often use my cruise to deal with <35MPH speed limits as I have a tendency to accelerate and the Maverick cruise didn’t let me down..

And of course the mileage is phenomenal. On a recent trip to the store I noticed the trip meter indicated 47.9 MPG. According to My Maverick, I’ve traveled 196 miles and can go another 373 miles before fueling (569 miles/tank). I still have ¾ of the initial tank of gas. I’m happy the hybrid technology has improved since I owned my FEH in 2009, and even happier that I can do “truck stuff” with my Maverick.

One week in and I’m a happy Maverick owner.

Great review.

You are spot on about the eCVT. The sound of an engine revving through gears is kind of a mental benchmark....and without it, it's a bit disorienting. When my wife got home after driving ours to the store for the first time, she said she was going to have to be more careful. She casually pulled out from our neighborhood onto the 45 MPH boulevard...and found herself doing 65 before she knew it. It kind of shocked her. Said it didn't feel like it was making an effort at all.
That might explain a couple of reviews I've seen that state the hybrid is "sluggish" or "underpowered". I think their senses are being fooled. The actual numbers tell a very different story. I've had a slew of vehicles over my forty or so years of driving, and can say with confidence that my hybrid Mav is probably the second quickest I've owned. An '88 Mustang 5.0 being the only exception.

Enjoy your great new ride!

Looks like I have the same build as you, scheduled to be built in a couple weeks. So glad to hear all the good things. I, too, love any extra airflow, so I'm excited about the moonroof and sliding rear window. Can't wait!

idle thought for those with hybrid vehicles that use them mostly for in-town and short trips and may find themselves having a tank of gas last an extended length of time. Do you use ethanol free gas or add stabilizer If using 10% blend? (This may not be as big of a deal as in those hybrids with electric only range when the gas engine may not run at all for in town use).

Thanks for the review. Have the same build apart from color (alto blue) and sunroof. My build was scheduled for next week, but checked the status today and it is in production ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Your review is making me even more excited.

My tonneau is the factory installed option from Ford.
Have you had any water get into the bed while using Ford's cover? Trying to decide if I should use some of my rewards points for that or go aftermarket for the bed cover.

Love reading these reviews, but makes waiting even harder! Have the same build as well, but bought an aftermarket hard tri-fold, which was delivered January 2nd. Hoping to have the truck in the next 6 months, but as we all know, could be longer.

Congrats and nice review. Totally agree about the eCVT. I love how smooth it is. Also Iconic Silver is probably the most underrated Mav color. Would def be my second choice after the VB I have.

found out a couple weeks back when you put the hybrid in sport mode it makes a shifting sound. Pretty neat
also on cruise control make sure to press the lane centering button on steering wheel. Took me a while to realize this, thought I had it on with the end of blinker button pressed.
