The radio is tricky. Sometimes carplay will connect right away and other times it will be a minute before it does. I usually have to wait for the connection screen to pop up before carplay will connect.

My biggest complaint so far is that there appears to be no way to leave the truck in Eco mode and everytime you start the truck you have to put it back in Eco mode from Normal.

I must agree. Hopefully someone smart will figure a way to stay in Eco mode.

The vent design is just plane stupid not being able to direct the air. I hate having a key, coming from BMW’s with Comfort Access you can just open the door without touching anything or not having to insert a key to start. Dash rattles but I think I fixed them. Considering the gas mileage, price and utility I still give it a 10. The dial shifter doesn’t bother me, BMW automatic shifter bothers me.

About the parking brake...

My last vehicle had a manual lever that I pulled up to engage the brake and pushed down to disengage it. The Maverick system seems pretty much the same, except it only takes one finger.

I'm not sure what would be a better way to do it. It only requires one action to set the brake and another to release it. (Unless you use the auto-release, which my previous vehicle didn't have.)

How should it be improved? (Other than making the auto-release smoother.)

After 7 months and 3k miles I know what my dislikes are.
Getting going in the Maverick is too slow. Parking brakes switch. Sometimes it is automatically applied. Sometimes I push or pull it the wrong way. Dial shifter. Like nothing about it except it’s out of the way. How will the radio fire up this time? Right away? Nothing? Connect and disconnect only to reconnect a minute later. Will the volume work? Stuck on last volume setting. AC fan, anytime now. Minor issues. Other than that I love this vehicle.

I noticed my parking brake was applied by itself once.

This is probably my biggest complain. Same with tow/Haul when you have a trailer or Slippery when it's icy out.

Maybe 20 years ago. You can leave everything on and once the ignition is off and the door opens it all shuts down. When you hop back in it will just pick right up where you left off. Cars are vastly smarter than they used to be.

Thanks for your response. My husband and I are among the elders of this group having bought our first car 55 years ago. Back then, I was taught to turn the radio, heater, etc. off to save draining the battery if everything was on the next time you started the vehicle. Maybe that wasn’t correct or maybe that doesn’t apply any more, but it’s something I’ve been doing out of habit for decades. Always open to learning new things.

I didn’t like the seats in the Lariat, I have that same color in an X3 but they are full leather and one color. Defeated the purpose of hitting a low price point $27,500.

Don't feel bad about it either. My girlfriend and I are 30 and she thought you needed to shut the AC until just a few months ago when I explained to her this same thing. She still shuts it off often but now doesn't panic if she forgets haha. Baby steps!

Actually, you should switch from AC and just run fan for a bit to dry out the air ducts if you live in warmer climates. Otherwise you can begin to develop mildew in the system from condensation moisture left in there. Ever see pinkish mildew developing over time in your bathroom shower stall from not airing out moisture in the room after a warm shower? Same deal.
