My Attempt at Having the Finite Hybrid Lariat Lug Nut Answer

I want to change the lug nuts on my hybrid Lariat as I have heard too often the problem with the Ford ones and am trying to get ahead of it. That said, even reading everything here, I am still confused. (Easy to have happen...I know.)

So, can anyone DEFINITEVLY tell me what size chrome lug nuts should go on the hybrid Lariat? Are they different than someone with the EB? Will I need a new wrench with new lug nuts? (Would like to avoid.)

If you're unsure and can't google search them. Pull one off and go into the auto store.
For me, all I did was call the auto store. Easy and done. This was for going from xl steelies to xlt wheels.

Ask discount tire. They were very good at answering all my questions. I’m sure they’ll have a definite answer. When I had a SR Tacoma, I wasn’t aware it was different lug nuts. Ever with my WT Chevy. Give them a call.

Any (20 Lug Nuts Bulge Acorn 14x1.5) will work including stock. Some aftermarket have 3/4 inch hex head (different than stock). I have had good luck with Lug Nut Guys on ebay, they have all different colors to go with your truck. The lug nut heads are the 3/4" size (smaller than stock).

According to many posters here they are two piece instead of a one piece and are prone to water intrusion, swelling, rusting, and then they become hard to remove and can leave you stranded with a flat tire on the road because you can't remove the tire. I live in Arizona so I'm not sure it is a great concern here but I'm going to find out.

I missed the memo. What is wrong with Ford lug nuts?

They swell due to corrosion. So much so snap on makes a socket slightly upsized just for fords. Will be changing the Mav and daughters escape this week. Even in CA. They still get stuck in the socket.

Your local Discount Tire store location carries the OE style lug nuts in stock. You can use your stock lug wrench as well. Here's a link to show the part number from West Coast Accessories.

The only time I have ever heard of this was back in the 60’s.
A lot of the steel making technology available today was just a bit of whimsy back then.

It's been a problem on some Ford vehicles since the early 2000's Focus model, just got WORSE after the bankruptcies of 2008, and it affects MOST main-line manufacturers...

Maybe I should do what my dad used to do. He used to rub Vaseline on everything that might be a winter problem. He even would wipe it onto the chrome bumper. That didn’t work because they rusted through from the underside

The lugnuts on the Bronco, Bronco Sport and the Escape are too small. Get the lugnuts for the F-150, as they have the same size stud. One would think that the studs on the Bronco would be larger to handle the expected serious offroading, but nope.

It affects any manufacturer that uses two piece-capped lugnuts. Chevy, Dodge, etc.
