I have dogs that ride with me. I’ve found that small sand particles get under the knob and affect turning it. I’ll blame my Labs.

For the past few months maybe 6-7 times when trying to switch to drive, reverse, or park the knob would stick in place for a moment. Then after turning back and forth a few times it would work. Anyone else experienced this? Did it get worse? Thinking about taking it in
Hi there. If you'd like to, go ahead and send us a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this shift knob concern. Thanks!

I Always wondered what happens if that knob is bumped- ( it's in a bad place to me) while driving wife set the pocket book on the knob it moved while driving... It goes to Neutral....(no matter which direction its bumped to. which is a good thing). I also accidentally bumped it while going in reverse long ago I think it did the same thing.... goes to Neutral.. If you Open the door while in drive like going up ramps to make sure you're not missing the ramps it automatically goes back to Park... So some things to be aware of.. I wish they'd put it on the dash under the radio or somewhere. On these cold mornings I have noticed it take a few seconds before you transition through the gears but its all fine just be patient I tell myself.
Well, I used to think the dial shifter was tolerable...

I very lightly bumped my shift knob yesterday. It was interesting unnerving because I was driving over Monarch Pass on the great Continental Divide -- in a snowstorm. Initially I didn't know what the hell was going on, as I was losing momentum fast and had the stereo playing so didn't hear the engine. Split second situation, but I was able to get back to D before heading backwards. I am glad the car behind me was keeping a safe distance, and did slow down.

A butt pucker episode for sure.

IMHO, that dial should have a stronger "resistance" (for lack of a better word) when engaged.

It's happening to me at this present time. Took it to dealer under warranty, they drove it a few times and it didn't fail for them. Go figure. Warning, if it's still under warranty and you take it in and they can't recreate the problem you may be charged for labor. I was.
