Hello All,
Received my new XL EB in early February, and just turned over 17K…lots of highway miles. This last trip blew me away…check the pic. 36.2 mpg without really trying too hard. No passengers and very lightly loaded. Tires @ 35PSI cold. Rt 84 in CT to 81 down to central VA.

The key factor is you "went down to central VA".

You'll never match or beat a hybrid, but, on an all highway trip they can be pretty close.

At stop n go : slow n go hybrid will be 1.5x to 2x better. Like half the gas usage.

Hope I get some good mileage on my EB. Will be driving from MA to SC for Xmas. Hope to make it all in one day (just shy of 1000 miles). Got Email from Ford this week and it says that it should be at the dealers next week. Have same engine in my Escape and often see around 32 when mostly highway. Have calc several times and varies from right on to 1.5 off when I do.

I had the same thought. Elevation change, wind direction/speed and travel speed are all significant variables that determine MPG. For elevation change this is a handy site: https://www.flattestroute.com

My average has consistently been 35 to 38 MPG, the 35.1 was average on my trip to CA. and for a long spell on Hwy40 I was going 90 in with a group of fast movers. I didn't realize I was going that fast and went back on cruise control. I was impressed though that it did not feel like I was travelling that fast, so I now always use cruise control.

Did recent round trip…Houston to Baton Rouge displayed 34 mpg. Mostly interstate Hwy, cruise control set on 68 mph.

Here is why I said you might want to check your mpg at the pump. Going by your dash reading you drove 496.7 miles plus have 54 miles to empty. Take that total of 550.7 and divide by 16.5 gallons for a full tank and that equals 33.37 mpg. Dash says 36.2 or 2.83 miles more than the math. Still great mileage, but not what the dash says.

When I calculate the mileage myself it is around 30 MPG. I’ll take it.

That is what my truck is averaging now. I am very happy with 30 mpg. That is much better than the 26 stated by the EPA. And also, now my dash readout agrees with what I am getting at the pump.

Do you guys have the tow package ?
I'm getting a about 3 miles per gallon less and I'm wondering if the Tow Package is the reason

I had the FX4 XLT with 4K tow package and I could get 38 on the highway and once got 40 on a 50 mile trip. That was me trying to save gas though.

My 2023 EB with AWD and Tow Package has just over 25,000 miles. It’s about 50/50 town/highway. I use cruise control at 80mph on the highway. I average right at 30mpg on the factory tires.

Meh, not bad, not great. I’m happy with it. I use regular 87 octane.

I have the tow package and have actually done better than OP. Driving style has a huge impact on MPG, not just how you accelerate either. Every time you make a minor correction within your lane you're shaving a little MPG. In racing: smooth is fast, not racing, smooth is efficient.

The tank was not full when I started this leg. I hit the reset button as I was leaving. I did the calculation using the fill mileage. I will agree that the 36.2 is probably optimistic…but it’s quite a jump from when I do the same trip loaded up. I just did a shorter trip today of about 320 miles and got 34.4…about what I expected. 2 people with a bunch of camping gear.

I have a 24 FX4 AWD and last week I did a round trip From south of Dallas to/from Lubbock, TX About 700 miles. Avg speed was about 70 m/hr. on the Hwy and II averaged 36.2 miles/ gal. 2 people on board to Lubbock and just me on the way back. The truck came with the 4K Tow Package and had no additional cargo.

that’s about exactly what mine got till I put big tire on it. Now I’m around 28

If I can do 32 hwy in a Tremor I think a regular 2.0 could do that pretty easy. Too bad pushing the pedal down is more fun and I don't live within 2800 miles of a highway.
