Hey everyone. I was able to take my first mini road trip with my Mav since I got it a couple weeks ago.
Allentown PA (338’ elevation) to Hershey PA (411’) for a concert. On the way to the concert I was in left lane traffic avg 80 mph in normal drive mode and received 29.8 mpg.
On the way home I decided to take my time. I put the truck in eco mode. Sat for 10 minutes trying to leave the concert and started the drive home. On the highway I found a uhaul and started drafting away going on AVG 60 mph and received 40.7 mpg by the time I got home. Definitely was pretty blown away.

Who needs a hybrid, you ask?

Anyone who wants to regularly get this type of MPG, without ideal conditions, without "drafting", etc.

Hope that answers your question.

I once drove downhill for 5 miles and averaged 50mpg in my civic. Who needs a maverick for that?

I drove downhill with a tailwind and my ecoboost actually started creating gasoline and refilled the tank. Good thing the hill was small or the gas tank would have overflowed!

FWIW, our Integra regularly averages 39-44mpg if driven conservatively. It's not a hybrid. But you dip into the throttle regularly and you're at 30mpg. I had an EB Maverick XL for 2,000 miles and it averaged 25mpg. Fine for a truck, but no where close to what I want out of the hybrid.

Yes, but with a hybrid engine setup and the same conditions, you would get 50+mpg most likely. Of course, tailgating is illegal in most areas, not to mention the amount of road rash this may inflict on your vehicle. But hey, have at it!

Holy hybrid Batman! Sarcasm is hard to catch on the internet but people being butt hurt is easy to spot.
It was a joke and more about the impressive MPG I received on one trip! Obviously if you want 40 mpg and to worry about the Mav catching fire, get a hybrid.

It's impressive. I managed a 35mpg highway trip in my 2.0 escape it normally averaged about 21. I felt pretty happy about it even though it wasn't typical.

That being said no need for two wrongs and attacking the hybrid back. Both engines are good.

Mr. OP some of us got it……good stuff.👍

Reminds me of a time in high school when we were in the middle of the desert and thought we were going run out of gas. Got behind a big rig and drafted until we could get to a gas station 😀

It’s all relative. I didn’t buy the hybrid version but coming from a Dodge Ram I doubled my gas mileage even though I’m only averaging 25 mpg!

Has anyone seen a Cd spec for the Mav? I'm guessing it's not great, even by PU standards...

Still, that's a really impressive number given the parameters.
