to be fair, most off-roaders don't buy new. Then why is the Taco the only manual transmission truck for sale today in Canada and the US? It's basically dead from a buyers perspective. Off roading is not the be all and end all of existence, and just an over hyped niche.
Depends on where you live I suppose. I visited some very popular off road driving locations this year, vast majority were in newer, or new model vehicles. Now the guys out there doing recovery, they were all in modified older model jeeps and trucks.to be fair, most off-roaders don't buy new.
In a fuel injected vehicle that will only work as long as your " dead" battery still has enough juice left to power your ignition system, fuel pump and injection system.I
Manual trans. are not dead in the off road crowd.
if you have ever been off road (or on) with a dead battery you can still push start a truck.
harley is the only thing ive ever had leave me stranded. lol. ran just fine, died 1 block away from Harley dealer, had to push it back. forget what was wrong, but yeah. pain in ass.In a fuel injected vehicle that will only work as long as your " dead" battery still has enough juice left to power your ignition system, fuel pump and injection system.
Had a Chevy with a 4speed and a dead battery once that I thought "I'll just roll 'er down this here hill and pop the clutch" and lo and behold I ended up at the bottom of the hill with a dead truck, only then I was further from help....
Can't push start my fuel injected Harley when the battery can't supply enough voltage or amperage either - I've tried that too. Only good thing is the Harley is easier to push.![]()
