I just installed this hitch rack on my Lariat. It is from Moose Racing. Pretty easy assembly but l did wish the diagrams were bigger for my old eyes. (lol) Weighs about 70 pounds. Good for a 500 pound bike. My bike here is well under 200. $299 retail. Free shipping from several retailers like Dennis Kirk.

I too looked into hitch rack options, but I was mindful that, regardless of what the hitch itself says about maximum weight, the hitch weight maximum on the Mav is only 400 lbs. Your set up is probably about as much as one should comfortably go (and even then, I'd probably pack the fuel in the bed vs. having it hang out that far).

Plus, one should be mindful that a hitch-mounted moto blocks the brake lights and rear plate on the Mav fairly significantly, which might or might not be a problem for an owner.

Man, that is a sweet looking bike.
I thought about a bike rack but I am a little skeptical about the wobbling considering there are no side support. So I just hook up my lightweight trailer (290lbs) really quick.

Hey Scott, the rack looks perfect for your application. My real question is about the MX motorcycle. At first glance I thought it's an old CZ but then it looks like it has a Sachs engine. I thought CZ produced their own engines. I recognize the Fox shock absorbers. They were the "trick" set up long ago and they actually worked quite well. The front forks looks like they have been on a weight reduction diet. Thanks again Scott.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for checking out my bike.
It is a 1974 Monark 125 from Sweden. I was a factory rider for them back in 72-74 era. I still race this bike now a few times a year. Yes, the rear shocks are Fox Airshox replicas made by Vintco. The engine is a German made Sachs. Very common and seen on other brands like Penton and DKW.

Thanks for the bike ID, I too was confused, I looked at the cases and thought CZ, but the fins looked like a Maico.

Thanks Scott. The blue frame along with the yellow body work should have been the big clues. You are correct that it was common long ago for manufacturers to use another companies engine. The British Rickman brand comes to mind. I remember looking at a Penton 400 engine thinking that it must make so much power because of all those cooling fins on the engine! Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Monarch faded when Husqvarna got serious with MX motorcycles.

That fuel jug in the back makes me nervous unless it is empty...lol. I would keep the a full jug in the bed and figure out how to modify that fuel jug carrier into a motorcycle track stand.

Husqvarna introduced their 125 in 1972 same year as Monark. It was the Honda Elsinore followed by the other Japanese companies that made all the European 125’s fade. Lower price and great technology. The European companies could not keep up.

Greetings, I too had a '72 or '73 Monark (I don't remember which year), and won the New Mexico State Championship (B) moving, then moving to Pro. I loved that little 125, it ran great, and handled super. Nice pic, it really takes me back, thanks- Ed

That's a sweet trailer. Nice and lightweight.
The downside is, you have to have room to store a trailer when it's not being used. Some folks don't have that luxury.
