I ripped all of my cd's years ago. They all fit onto an sd card that is in my phone. When you want music just connect the phone to the car via bluetooth and play on the phone's music app. You have your entire cd collection at your fingertips. They can't get lost, broken or stolen since there is a copy on the computer, too.
Better yet cheap iPods are easy to find, and do the same thing... No reason to have a CD player in a car these days.

Another small issue I have is the drivers side power window goes down automatically with 1 click. However this does work when rolling it back up. You need to keep your finger on the control. Strange. Am I missing something?
I'm thinking that may be a safety thing. I'd hate to have a dogs head get caught while it was going up. Or even a child.

My 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport came with a CD player.

Ok, I think you win. Does any brand still offer them? The luddite market must be bigger than I thought.

My '14 F150 was auto in both directions. The Lariat offers it. I believe it's because of a penny pinching price issue between the models.

Let me know how it goes. I'm furious that they did that and that we had the same experience.

I don't believe it's on the dealer.
Called ford Canada, they could do nothing, and pointed it back to the dealer. The dealer I have been working with has been very difficult with many parts of the ordering and purchase process, but those are other stories for other days… the dealer offered to order an OEM rim from an XL, since they can’t even order in a plain steel wheel (winter steel rims with our wheel specs are unavailable for some reason). Their final cost with the rim and tire was going to be about $1000. I contacted ford Canada again, and was told to write them a letter which was kind of weird. They got back to me in about a week, and said that they would give me $500 towards the spare tire, but the dealership was still $1000, so no way…. I convinced them to just give me the $500 credit towards ford parts and service which they agreed. So now I have a $500 credit which is not bad, and I will be shopping the aftermarket for a rim and tire.

It's this one. To understand what you get, you need to look at the lower trims and determine the differences. Making assumptions leads to disappointments
Well said Pizzacat. Before ordering my XL, I went through the build process through Ford's online build site, it became clear what options were available and where I would have to upgrade to get things like cruise and SiriusXM. I must of built 30 different configurations over 3 or 4 weeks before ordering. I made a conscious decision to purchase an XL and add both cruise and SiriusXM when I can. Understanding what is in each trim is not Ford's fault, since there is a wealth of information available online to include: Order Guides, sourcebook, Trim comparison, Quick Reference Guide, Packaging Guid, Dealership Training info, etc. Not understanding is a choice with all the information available.

Problem I ran into is the contradictory inclusion of full size spare. The sourcebook, and dealer training info show inclusion of full size spare in lariat lux package regardless of engine. Where as others only show it being a no charge option when ordering lariat lux package. Although lariat lux package hybrid will always have it. When I did my build and price in June it showed it included with any engine, but currently the build and price shows it being a separate option.

My favorite confusion is the sport mode on FX4 trims. For a couple months it was there in multiple pieces of literature; then real life showed it wasn't.

Awesome! That looks like it worked out better than expected.

I've seen several posts here where people say they thought they were getting "X" but they got or just learned that they get "Y". This applies to people who ordered a Maverick as well as bought off the dealers lot.

Examples I've seen include -

I thought the XL had cruise control
I thought the Maverick had a CD player
I thought the Maverick had built in navigation
I thought the XLT had Sirius XM
I thought the Lariat without Lux had active cruise control
I thought my hybrid got a full size spare without buying copilot 360
I thought the full size spare option was the same size as the other 4 tires

There's probably more, but these are what I can recall right now.

The question is how does this happen?

Is Ford's online information not clear enough? It does take some digging, that's for sure.

Are the dealership sales people not doing a good job of learning everything the customer wants and explaining the options and or packages required to get them? There are some poor sales people out there unfortunately.

Is the customer not doing their due diligence before handing out $20-30K or more?

I thought I had done good research and I did know all of the above except I learned about the faux full size spare tire here on this forum.

How can this lack of information in the age of information that we live in be improved?

I'd say some improvement of complete (and correct) information on the Ford build and price website would benefit the most.

What say you?
it appears that a number of people did not look close enough at order guides and depended on assumptions. I ordered in August and all of your examples were explained. It was sad that all of the things on your list (except CD player and Sirius, which iPhone or Android will take the place of... Sirius on the App) forced me to upgrade to the packages that had them. I figured that was a fair trade off for a truck starting at "$19-20K..... And really, CD player in 2021?

After doing my research and asking my dealer for clarification the only item in the list that was a surprise to me was the point that a full size spare tire was not an exact match to the other 4 tires. And by the way I have 2013 Explorer with a factory CD player.

Keep in mind that you are on a forum for a vehicle that has only been out for a couple weeks and most people commenting don't even have one in their position yet. This is not typical for car enthusiast forums to start with.

So instead of the forum filled with millions of posts about the same performance upgrades and maintenance questions, you get millions of posts about the ordering process.
