Those that hook up a trickle charger. Do you actually put it on the battery or do you hook it to the posts under the hood?
I can't answer for the Mavericks, but I had a Hybrid Escape and I trickle charged twice directly on the battery. The posts under the hood are only for jump starting, which is why there is only a positive and a ground. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Another Lariat advantage. I just touch the top of the door handle to lock it, and there is no extra effort to unlock it by sticking my fingers into the handle. I am still annoyed at having to fish the fob out of my pocket to unlock the tailgate...or walk the extra distance to touch the handle and walk back to the tailgate.

Two points……..
1) I believe there is a setting where one can tell the truck what to unlock upon touching the inside of the door handle.
My Lariat Hybrid unlocks everything.
2) Please be aware that just touching the door handle, while it DOES lock the truck, It DOES NOT arm the alarm.
Double clicking with the fob does, as does pressing the bottom two buttons on the keypad.
I got this directly from FMC.

I've always used the under hood posts for trickle charging, a heck of a lot easier than accessing the battery if you have items on the back seat….and I believe the under hood method is the recommended procedure.

So there is a positive and negative?

No one knows for sure. But that is how they identify.

One is Red, the other is more neutral (bare silver)...
haha yea, that's why I chose to bypass them on my Escape. Constant battery drain issues on that thing.

Lots of PHEV users on the Escape forums seemed to enjoy the trickle charge setup for shorter trips to avoid the deep sleeve and battery falling below optimal voltage levels.

Oh yeah, one other thing. When you get home and park it, and if the gas engine is running, let it run until it shuts down, then get out and lock her up. It will run to charge the HVB.
..
Not a good idea in my garage.

Don't connect anything directly to the battery. Doing so bypasses the BMS system, so the charge (and/or load, if you're connecting a dash cam or something like that) will NOT be seen by the BMS. This can lead to all sorts of obscure problems.

For tricky charging, you should DEFINITELY use the posts under the hood.

In the winter I only drove about 60 miles a week, and didn't have a problem with deep sleep or anything. But that was spread out over the whole week, so the truck never sat for more than two days unused.

I ride my bicycle to work and my current ride is a 2004 Chevy Silverado with 98000 miles on it. I plan to continue to ride to work and will only be driving my Maverick (currently in production) on weekends. Hope this doesn't cause problems.
I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe with 91k. I rode a bike to work for some years. Now work from home.

Avoid sitting in the driveway and listening to one more song, while the AC is running, as this might eat up what little charge you accumulated while driving.

Lithium Ion batteries don't like to be stored at a full charge (it's why I don't store any on their chargers, only plug them in to charge when I need them, and why my phone and laptop are set to charge to only 85%).

As long as you are putting some miles on it every week, you should be fine.
