I picked my 26 AWD hybrid up in February and just went over 11000 miles, I also have a topper and a decked drawer system and tools. I am guessing 700 pounds there and 300-500 more in tools average overall is 30 MPG. That is pretty much all highway normal running in normal mode switching to sport to pass and probably 5-7 MPH over all the time 😏. So with all that I am pretty happy with the 30 average and the 38 in town.
it took 4 years to pull the trigger on buying it, But I am glad I waited for the configuration that I have 😎
I'm not hauling tools or a topper, but my commute is almost exclusively above the hybrid assist speed, and I still come in at 32-34 MPG almost every trip.

I am a prius driver from 2010 to 2017 and from hypermiling that car ...I use a combo of these techniques almost instinctively on the Maverick. i get 500 miles to the tank on mostly highway driving and over 600 if alot of city driving
You're doing Great hypermiling. I'm assuming you're from San Antonio based on your profile? We winter in Weslaco, our Mav getting us there & back. Hypermiling becomes a habit, a challenge, that non-hypermilers won't understand. Much like non-vets not understanding the bond with Veterans from all ages. If you don't understand theresno explanation.

Agreed. Its hell if I am in the passenger seat, and my wife drives it like her Jeep Wrangler.

I'm with you brother. Soooo hard to be quiet when wife drives like it's her Lincoln MKX. So I cringe and bite the bullet. As my buddy always says, I might be dumb, but I ain't Stupid. Lol

your vehicle will do better after 5,000 miles I have been competing against someone for MPGs. My highest tank so far. 13..2 gallons after 3 pump clicks. Yields 57.8 MPGs

I like the way you drive. I'm just past half way on my summer tank. I'm at 61.1MPG with a projected range of 804 miles. Winter tanks average 45. The key to hypermilling is driving like you don't have brakes.

I just don't understand how you don't haul tools...or a topper....and you are ONLY getting 33 mpg??? Shoot...if my Hybrid mileage at the end of each driving week doesn't START with a 4....I'm doing something very wrong. It is hard driving the Hybrid to "NOT" get at least 40 mpg. My daily commute to work and back is mostly highway. I'm doing 75-80...flowing with traffic about 20 of the 22 miles and I still get 42-44.😮😮😮

What do you mean by the hybrid assist speed?

Strictly speaking - that doesn't make sense.

Hybrid is the mix of EV and ICE - there is no hybrid assist, nor limit speed.

You may be using this truck wrong.

My Tremors starting to break in with 2200 miles on the Odo.
I’m up to 23 mpg from 21, I started doing easy Italian tune ups at 500.
He’s much more, ‘Frisky’ now.
Took a 200 mile interstate run at 75-80 mph.
I got 29 mpg, very happy I am.
93 octane, Appalachian Mountains and an EcoBoost Tremor, on pavement and gravel fire roads,
Oh yeah :’P

My commute is 32 miles, almost all of it at 70 mph. I only get about 3 miles where I'm at a speed the electric motor can power me forward. If I'm doing something wrong, I'd love to know what and how.

Yeah, I’m not sure it just sounds strange. My commute is 22 miles. I probably do about 2 1/2 of that 22 with electric. The rest is highway anywhere from 70 to 80 and no lie. I’m at 42 to 44 every single day. I do have it in Eco mode though. But even if you didn’t put it in Eco and just left it in normal, you should still be breaking 40 MPG.

It's been lowered and has 20s on it, I'm sure the wider footprint of the tires is part of the issue. The wheel and tire assembly is lighter than OE despite the size difference, though.

Back up to 43.2 currently. Before last winter it was 44.6 and after 42.2. So it's slowly creeping back up.

But....

I drive it more like a normal car now, whereas at first I drove it like a Grampa and was super conscious about getting on the gas and brakes as easy as possible (but I never was into jackrabbit starts or last-second braking, either, so there's that).

The biggest surprise is how zippy the little turd feels - I unexpectedly broke the front wheels loose one day without really trying, and it gets out into traffic with no drama at all. A nice added benefit from a hybrid that I wasn't expecting.

Must not be rolling terrain either, which would at least give some engine off time, that's where the fuel savings is, and a potential 3 miles ain't much.

Nope, nothing else to do. A tad bit of savings with eCVT always having best RPM and being a tad more efficient, but not really much there at 70 mph constant over level terrain.
Just don't look longingly at EB's if they pass you, getting better mileage.

My lack of rolling terrain means I get at best 40 if pushing it.
If I had the 25/26 power limit strategy at 15% max for EV - I could do much better.

I'd never look longingly at an Ecoboost lol. Good engine but absolute garbage tranny. There's nothing there worth longing for. And I'm in central Florida, what's rolling terrain? 🤣
