We were driving in the bluffs near La Crosse, WI and on 3 separate occasions, while coasting down a somewhat long, steep grade (8%), the truck ('24 Hybrid) acted like it was in neutral with somebody's foot on the gas. I wasn't using the cruise control and hadn't touched or changed anything. It...
I bought a new '24 over a '25 for that reason. Hate touchscreens. You shouldn't text and drive but it's OK to stare at your dashboard just to figure out the radio. Insane.
Filled my hybrid for the first time since January - $5.10! But I'm at 42.5 MPG after a year of ownership, so I can't really complain. It's a lot better than my former Ranger (20-ish).
And I removed the 'hybrid' badge from mine because there are douchenozzles around that will mess with anything...
The Good:
The Maverick had about 500 miles on it when we left. The 1100 round-trip miles up to the northern-most part of Wisconsin were nearly trouble-free. WOOHOO!! We found the seats were pretty comfy for our old butts, and the MPGs was pretty great.
On the way up we took the interstate...
I love a good V8, but the drivetrain from the MachE would be deadly in a Maverick as The Lightning.
Yeah, I'm one of those. And yeah, I'd buy one (if it wouldn't tear itself apart), just to smoke Teslas with a truck.
That looks great. I really like the red 'Maverick' on the back. Looks like it was supposed to be that way (I'm trying to cover mine up, so that's saying something!).
The day I picked up my Maverick, the dealer had a Ranger in the showroom with a Maverick nearby. The Ranger looked massive next to the Maverick. It was surprising. Then, on my way out, someone had parked an F-350 dually next to my Maverick. I laughed out loud.....
I agree, they mis-named the...
I don't need anything super loud or thumpy, just a lot cleaner than what's there. The level of distortion at 1/2 volume is terrible. And after seeing the microscopic magnets on the door speakers, I knew why. Why do they even bother to install such low-grade crap. That's just embarrassing. Jeez...
Didn't think of a magnetic sign piece. That's a pretty great non-permanent solution. Hmmmm.....
And I forgot about that damn camera (you know, the one I waited 3 months for 'em to fix before I could bring the truck home!). I use my mirrors, mainly. But the wheel arches actually serve a...
I know a lot of you add the black lettering to your tailgates to make it stand out more, but I'm on the other side - I want to cover them. With most cars, I usually get out the hairdryer and take off as many badges as I can, as long as there's no holes behind them. But those big ol' MAVERICK...
It kinda depends on how anal you are. For me, a dent in a new vehicle gets fixed right away the right way because I know it would eat at me every time I saw it. Same with door dings and scratches.
If it's 4 or 5 years old, it's different. I'd probably go the 'buff and see' route. If it's not...
I added a tiny Kenwood powered sub to my '02 Ranger and it made a huge difference (similar to this one):

...and it fits under the front seat. It won't blow the windows out but it puts out a surprising amount of low end for its...
The XLT with the luxury package and Co-pilot360 was a better value compared to the Lariat or XL, at least for what I was looking for.
The XL would have been nice if you could option it up more. Just not enough creature comforts for my old butt.
The push-button start on the Lariot is what I...
