I just filled my tank since I had less than 50 miles to go. 2023 EB AWD XLT. It took 14 gallons exactly.
I was looking at the post about a dealer that had 2024's in stock. I looked up a couple of AWD's
to see if they had the 4K package. None did, but they did have 16.5 gallon tanks. Did Ford make
this big a change in 2024 or does it depend on the model?

16.5 is the stated size for all EcoBoosts. If you put in 14 and had 50 miles remaining (~2 gal) plus some calculation room for reserve... there's your 16.5 gal.
Agreed - that remaining 2-2.5 gal is bang on for about 50 miles in an EB.

Mines is a 2024 Hybrid XLT and my tank Size is 13.6G. I guess the none Hybrids have a bigger tank.

My son's 2022 EB AWD, (no 4k), has the 16.5....we took it on a road trip last summer and put more that 14.5 in several times, once we put 16.3 in. Range was "fill gas now" or something like that....

Tank sizes are usually calculated getting around ~400 miles between fill ups. The more fuel efficient the vehicle, the smaller the tank as long as it still hits that target. This helps to reduce weight and increase efficiency even further. Ecoboost has a larger tank to still hit that 400mi target.

Just saw TFL's initial impressions on their 2024 Tacoma and it's funny how many of the comments are all whining about the gas tank being smaller even though it gets better gas mileage. I guess folks really wants to helldrive 10+ hours nonstop to getting deep vein thrombosis.

It’s not that for me I travel a lot and add the 36 gallon to my f-150’. Helps with searching for gas in small weird towns.
Or when I go out to Texas or Co high country. By the time you get to destination you burn up a decent amount but still want enough to drive around during the week in the mountains without having to run back into town.

From what I recall reading here, the tanks are the same but the Hybrids have different internal components that take up more volume.

I have the 2023 ecoboost and it's a 16.5 gallon tank. I definitely put more than 14 gallons in it.

I can confirm this on my 23 EB. I ran my truck until I had 6 miles left to E and topped of and gallons were just under 16.5 gallons

There was a report here proving that the hybrid fuel tank is the same size as the EB. It just has a much larger reserve.

I think they both have about the same "reserve" but 2.5 gallons in a hybrid lasts longer than 2.5 gallons in an ecoboost.

The exact determination was:

Hybrid dash computer uses 13.8 to calculate your range, but holds more gas than that.

EcoBoost dash computer uses 16.5 to calculate your range, but holds more gas than that.

I had to look at my recordings, but the most I have ever filled up with is 12.87 gallons.

Back in the days I would stretch it but now that I don't have to... those fill ups are usually after longer trips otherwise it's half tank fill ups.
