Middle Rear seat sensor issue - seat belt alarm

It seems that the 2024 Maverick has a problem with the rear center seatbelt system. Both the test drive 2024 XLT Hybrid and the purchased 2024 Lariat Hybrid kept sounding the seat belt not fastened for the rear center passenger and the seat was empty. No passenger and nothing setting in the seat. Had to buckle the seat belt to silence it.

I had issues with this when I have rear passengers, usually only if 2 though. Weird

I had the same thing happen when I have people in the back seat. It's usually because one them tried to buckle into the middle buckle instead of the one for their seat. I solved the issue by pulling the middle buckle through the seat, so it can't be accessed. I rarely have passengers in the back and certainly will never have someone in the middle. Problem solved.

What if anything are you storing in the bin under the seat? Is something putting upward pressure under the seat?

My 23 XLT hybrid did this last week. My back seat passenger just buckled the empty center belt.

Both of our '23 Mavericks do the same thing. I just leave the seatbelt buckled.

Occasionally get this too. Sometimes our grown daughter sits too far over from the passenger side seat and sets it off. This messes up both the PS and middle sensors.

24 hybrid lariat. I had this happen after having rear seat passengers. 1st fix was to buckle the middle seat (needed even with zero passengers). 2nd ‘Permanente’ fix, raised & lowered the rear seat cleared the warning.

If you haven't tried the seatbelt chime disabling procedure for that seat position (it's in the user manual and on MTC), try that. Or return it to the dealer for warranty repair. If they balk, all of the annoying chime crap can be disabled using FORScan. You can use FORScan yourself or find a local shop to do it for you. Perhaps a tuning shop, can. Or they might know someone who does FORScan mods.

SWITCHING THE SEATBELT REMINDER ON AND OFF

WARNING: While the system allows you to deactivate it, this system is designed to improve your chances of being safely belted and surviving an accident. We recommend you leave the system activated for yourself and others who may use the vehicle.

Note: The driver and front passenger warnings switch off independently. When you perform this procedure for one seating position and the other seat is occupied, fasten the other seat.
Read Steps 1 - 4 before proceeding with the programming procedure.
Make sure that:

• You set the parking brake.
• The transmission is in park (P).
• The ignition is off.
• You close all vehicle doors.
• You unfasten the driver and front passenger seatbelts.

1. Start the engine.

1. Wait a short period of time until the seatbelt warning light switches off. After Step 2, wait an additional five seconds before proceeding with Step 3. Once you start Step 3, complete the procedure within 30 seconds.

1. For the seating position you are switching off, fasten then unfasten the seatbelt four times at a moderate speed, ending in the unfastened state. After each unfasten, the seatbelt warning light switches on and off with each fasten.

1. The seatbelt warning light flashes for confirmation.

This switches the feature off for that seating position if it is currently on.
This switches the feature on for that seating position if it is currently off.

I got this from Ford dealer, it's free of charge. Cut off the belt, and inserted the buckle. Problem solved.

Yup. They are FREE. Just have to ask for them. I have them for every car I own.

I had this issue on my '23 Mav Lariat Lux. The cause was a defective seat belt sensor replaced under warranty - the dealer had to order a part, installed the next day and the BCM was recalibrated.

I had the same issue with my 24 Lariat. On the occasion I’d have someone in the rear seat on the passenger side they would always insert the bet in the middle seat. To remedy this I simply connected the middle seat belt in its slot and leave it there all the time. I always look like a have a passenger with me on the display when I’m solo. By the way, I hate that seatbelt display. I just don’t have the forscan program to delete it.

I have the same problem on my 24, it will go away in 3 minutes or more.
