Hello Maverick friends!
Had an unfortunate situation happen with my rear bumper. Last Thursday, I got a warning that there was a sensor issue when I started the truck, thought it was just because I hadn't taken it to the carwash and it was dirty. Ignored it, which I regret now. That next day (Friday) I was backing up and was looking in my rearview camera and checked surrounding areas, and still managed to back into a tree stump that was below the camera range. No beeping from the sensors sounded before I approached the stump. Ford has denied my warranty claim because they are can't pinpoint when the damage happened to the sensor. Understandable, but I got that message the day before the incident and then backed into the stump.
I'm at a loss. They want to completely replace the bumper for $1,500+ to fix the sensor. It's just the 1 sensor. There is minimal, if any, cosmetic damage to the bumper. Mostly just scuffs.
Has anyone had any issues with sensors falling out of place? Or fixing one instead of replacing the whole bumper? I really don't want to spend $$$.
