I’ve got an ‘07 Dark Shadow Grey Ranger and a ‘25 Carbonized Grey Lobo. Need to get them cleaned up to put them side by side. Love them both.

I had a 1986 ranger, 427,000 miles on it when I traded it. Replaced the clutch and rebuilt the carburetor nothing else but tires and brakes. I then had a 2007 ranger, traded it for a 2011 ranger. All were standard trans and 4 cyl. I'm now on my 2nd maverick, a 22 awd ecoboost first addition and now a 25 awd hybrid xlt. I guess I like small ford trucks.

Exactly...F150s are too big, the current Ranger is an F150 in size, and the Maverick just fits like a glove. I'm not a fan of all the tech/nannies/digital crap, etc...but it's my choice of truck by far right now. Most importantly...it's fun, when most vehicles are absolutely not these days.

I love the old Ranger...THAT along with the OG Tacoma have been my favorite trucks for quite a while. I'm not happy about losing my Ranger, but it likely had one or two more winters in it anyway as a second vehicle. That thing was amazingly simple, reliable, yet a total dog of a thing all at the same time...never did have any sort of luck with gas mileage, but it was so fun to drive.

I have a 2017 RCSB F150, but was interested in the new Ranger till I found out it was heavier and longer with much less room than my F150. It made no sense to me. I owned 3 old style Rangers built 1 for 2wd off road use, one stayed stock, but then went whole-hog on a 4wd

3 inch Duff lift LS rear air locker front, manual 5 speed, transfer-case, locking hubs. A few mod to the lazy but very dependable 3.0 Vulcan. Damn thing was a goat! The new Ranger could not hold a candle to it.

while not as hard core seems to be very capable! Certainly quicker than the old Vulcan V6.

Ford basically killed the FX4 by making the LUX package required. It did not used to be.

By design though, they want to push you into either a Lariat or Termor.
Worked on me, was debating an XLT again when switching over to Hybrid AWD but ended up with a Lariat. For an extra $2 grand you get a lot that an XLT LUX does not have, and I will say the cabin noise / comfort is way better in the 2026 Lariat than my 2024 XLT. Not sure if that is because they are building them better now that supply chains are somewhat back to normal or what.

Had an '87 XLT LB until about 250k 2.9 litre 5 speed. Bought it used with 10k miles on it. A little narrower than my '01 and did not get a single door ding in its slab sides the whole time I had it. Did replace clutch, rear end, exhaust, A/C compressor and heater core while I had it. Heater core replacement was easy: access door on fire wall foot area. A rare great idea.

I had a (I think) 1986 Ranger extended cab. Drove it for a lot of years. 5 speed! Really like it. After retiring, I wanted another truck. My key was I wanted something that would fit in the garage (HOA can be a PITA). Really wanted another Ranger, but thought the price was out of line. Have been very happy so far with my 23 Mav.

Had a Ford Ranger 3rd Generation 6 cylinder (purchased from my Dad's estate), for 10 yrs and really liked it but it sure liked new clutches. Not sure of years/generations but Mazda and Ford co-produced the Ranger in the same plant the Maverick is built in Mexico today. Mazda was selling them in Japan, and other countries, and the US, long before Ford joined the factory. Joint venture investment...both Ford and Mazda were selling the same pickup under different names...only noticeable difference was the front grill....

In 2020 Ford bought Mazda's interest and assets in the Mexico plant and in 2021 had the Maverick's robotics witted fitted in the old Mexico Ford/Mazda plant....I think Mazda's version was called the B-10, or Mazda B-Series. All parts were interchangeable.

My 6-cylinder Ranger tires would leave a black streak any time you wanted. I sometimes wish the Maverick had a straight shift. On second thought, maybe the straight shift was why I went through 2 clutches.

Must have had the 4 liter overhead cam engine the Vulcan 3.0 push-rod I had would not spin a tire.
