So I used my Maverick for an easy trip here in Florida. It's 2022 2.0 EB AWD with 4k tow. The trailer was rented from Cruise America and is about 20 ft long and 3k empty weight. Travel was 70 Miles each way through some back and city roads and highway.

The Mav pulled easy and never hesitated. Power was good and handling was ok. Over some bumpy sections there was a lot of bucking and bouncing. Gas mileage was abismyl at 12 mpg. While my Mav had the brake controller recall done, I think it's still not working right. The lights worked , but it kept saying trailer not connected then other times it was. Not confident inspiring!

Temp gauge stayed in the normal range and I never felt like it was running hot. Tow/haul mode held the rpms high for a long time before shifting and normal actually seemed to drive better.

We made it back safely and while power was ok with the trailer, the Mav felt sprightly after disconnecting !

Nice report. Seems like it might be a reasonable size to tow.

How was the tongue weight?
I didn't have the measurement of the tongue weight, but you can see a little sag in the rear end. I did have a bunch of gear in the bed, since the trailer was a rental, I had loaded up the Mav with everything needed and just hooked up the empty trailer, though they had fill the fresh water tanks.

Gas mileage doesn't translate well towing. I drop from 34 highway to 21 highway towing a landscape trailer with a motorcycle on it.

Thanks for that info. I'll be pulling a similar-sized trailer at times and am beginning to think air bags for the rear springs are probably a good investment. They should do a good job mitigating the effects of the sag on handling.

Get your brake controller checked out. Not good if not working properly.

They are rated for 2000 lbs.
If you watch the total weight, maybe a tent camper or a small utility trailer.

This seems low to me. When I haul my Scamp with gear, it usually weighs 2900 pounds. On a recent trip, with no hills and good weather, I got 20.9 mpg (my calculation, not the Mav). What was the octane of the gas used? I used 91 octane gasoline (as recommended by Ford).

I plan to next time I can get it to the dealer before I tow with it again. I do have my signal tester which I'll try first.

You're scamp is probably more aerodynamic! I had filled up with 93, about a half tank before I started and I also used my own calculation.

It's rated for 2000 lb, so stay below that, I don't think you have a brake controller, so anything light enough to not need brakes or that just has a friction brake. My sister tows a motorcycle trailer and the occasional uhaul small enclosed trailer.

Anything's possible, I guess. Here is an S10. Towing a shipping container with at least one car insider From a junkyard in Las Vegas to Los Angeles.
You never know until you try.
I wouldn't want to be in front of him going down El cajon Pass.

That's a donkey driver who has no respect for human life. I would have called the police immediately. Too many idiots on the road these days (including me).
