In 1980 I bought a brand new 19" color TV for $329. I can buy a 55" for $99. Why would anyone pay hundreds to repair a $99 TV?

Best buy online yesterday had a 75" on clearance for $148

Cheap TV’s are fine, but you get what you pay for. OLED or mini led sets are so much better lol

My Sony Bravia was well wroth the $$$, it destroys any sub $800 TV out there. And given they are now TCL displays, I will happily pay for this TV to be repaired.

Have a 40" Sony Bravia in the Living Room that was made in 2008 not one problem with it since it was new!!

I spend very little time watching tv. Usually local sports. My iPad Air is more important to me because it’s portable.

I'm still rockin' my 2012 Panasonic plasma. Still occasionally watch a blue ray 3D movie, lol

I would have never spent 3k on a television. However, using it as a monitor while surfing the forums is pretty nifty.

I bet they do, it's MeTV, you're watching a broadcast resolution. Try that with, say, the lord of the rings 4k blu ray of the 4k Grand Tour specials, and the difference is immediately noticeable. Even for broadcast, try watching those black and white shows on a proper OLED, then go back to a LCD, and the LCD looks like utter trash with all the washed out blacks and dull colors. My point was that only applies to the cheapest throw away models. You get a high quality unit, it still makes more sense to repair them.
Cars fall into the latter category, they are FAR too expensive to be throw away items.

The elctronic devises in your car are cheaper to replace the unit than repair the unit. As to your TV viewing examples I can proudly say I have never watched ANY Lord of the Rings movies, NO Marvel movies. Again TV is NOT that important to me. My Samsung is much better than the 1960s RCA we had when I was a kid that had a 13" screen. Also I am not a typical male who will watch anything with the word SPORT attached to it. I watch some sporting events but have better things to do with my time. Streaming services? NOPE not in my life time. Each person needs to determine what to spend money and time on. TV screens is really low on my priority list.
